Some of you may remember my post a while ago about the tall grass and how I've now got more pasture than horses. When I caught Lola bunny hopping to get hither and thither yesterday, I knew it had gotten too tall again:
The new colt Taz came from a home that didn't have quite as much space, and when he first got here he would really tear it up. I assumed it was the heat slowing him down lately... After all, he's already taller than her and didn't seem to be having quite the same problem:
I asked them to mow the pastures this morning, and by afternoon figured the grass had dried enough for me to let the herd out. *I* thought it smelled nice, but I think Taz got a little more out of it than I did... As soon as he hit the grass, the tail went up and he was off:
Sorry for all the photos, but that's only a few minutes' worth! He was galloping figure eights in and out of two different pastures. He even tried to jump over his dam once (she was not happy about that one), and was still going when I left. Is it possible that cut grass is an upper for horses?
