Some of you may remember my post a while ago about the tall grass and how I've now got more pasture than horses. When I caught Lola bunny hopping to get hither and thither yesterday, I knew it had gotten too tall again:

The new colt Taz came from a home that didn't have quite as much space, and when he first got here he would really tear it up. I assumed it was the heat slowing him down lately... After all, he's already taller than her and didn't seem to be having quite the same problem:

I asked them to mow the pastures this morning, and by afternoon figured the grass had dried enough for me to let the herd out. *I* thought it smelled nice, but I think Taz got a little more out of it than I did... As soon as he hit the grass, the tail went up and he was off:

Sorry for all the photos, but that's only a few minutes' worth! He was galloping figure eights in and out of two different pastures. He even tried to jump over his dam once (she was not happy about that one), and was still going when I left. Is it possible that cut grass is an upper for horses?

Look at him go! That's fabulous!

Although I also really like the 1st pic of Lola doing her bunny rabbit impression.

I could only dream of having nice green fields like that.

Thanks guys! Both babies have so much personality it's almost impossible NOT to catch them in motion. Taz was sure a tired boy when I brought him in tonight though.

Great pics!

I know my horses run and frolic when THEY get clipped, guess this one got set off by the grass.

Fun stuff...

Thanks guys! He's a ham, but when he's done running he likes to come up and lean on my leg.

I'm going to miss him when he's gone.

Please tell me that is your next driving horse. Wow! Wow! Wow! What do you mean you will miss him when he is gone?

Grass?? What is that? LOL

Sure wish we had some here- makes an awful pretty backdrop for some awfully nice foals. Great pics, thanks for sharing and hey, what I remember of the smell of cut grass always makes me feel great too. Smells like 'springtime'!!!!

It's like he knows people are talking about him--he was putting on a show again today.

It's very tempting Diane, but I want to keep my numbers low enough that I will have room for a gelding or two of my own breeding when the right colt comes along. Taz was an unexpected bonus with his dam (the palomino in my avatar). I'm hoping his sibling next year will be as talented and sweet as him.
