Has anyone purchased these blankets to know if they are the same thickness, weight, etc? I am looking at the foal blanket for a growing weanling, but wasn't sure if it's the same thickness and weight as the "adult" blanket in the same brand(Polar Shield). Anyone purchased the foal blanket that can tell me if its somewhat the same as the regular Polarshield blanket?

What do you plan on using the blanket for? The adult one looks light weight and would not stand up to a Maine winter I bet.

Hi,

I haven't ordered any blankets from Double Diamond, but I would try e-mailing them asking if the blankets are the same thickness. That way you get an answer from the "horse's mouth" and can get the right blanket you want.

I emailed them yesterday and am waiting for a reply. Wasn't sure if anyone here had one though

Looking for something to use this fall/early winter on a weanling. I have a heavier blanket that hopefully he'll fit into by the time it gets real cold up here. Our barn stays pretty warm. He'll be bodyclipped in September, so looking for something that'll keep him warm(with a sheet underneath) on chilly nights until his hair grows back out or until he fits into the heavier weight blanket.

All my other horses have heavy winter blankets by Brookside, but they dont come small enough for the weanling.

if I am right, one is lined and one is not, one has the wither protection and one does not. one looks like it is from JT the other from a different china comapny. go for the first one, I have tons of them and have sold a ton to people who just love them. a good light weight sheet that you can put fleece warmers under. or just keeps the horses clean. very versatile blanket

The foal blanket is a single front closure, velcro belly and no leg straps. It is waterproof or at least pretty darned water resistant and has some sort of filler with the polyester or whatever most blankets are lined with. If I had known you were interested I had mine at the last show and you could have seen it. It kept mine warm enough on cold/wet days body clipped. I bought 3 and one filly has killed two of them already. :) She's rough on anything. The other two fillies were fine with them.

So...who's the new colt. Inquiring minds want to know. :)
