Hi all,
We went to the clinic and picked Molly up this afternoon. She is eating and behaving like her normal self. The vet says she is actually seeing, though not normally--yet. Time will tell if she regains all her sight. Meantime, she is on non-steroid painkillers for the next two days then off them to see what happens.
She went back into her pen and stall and didn't run into anything. Went through the stall door a couple times and out without problems so she sees well enough to get by.
The vet still doesn't have a firm cause but says she is recovering faster than she would if it was a disease process so she's pretty confident it was a trauma induced neurosis of the optic nerve caused by banging her poll really hard. She had consulted a specialist in Denver and they concluded that that is most likely the cause.
So, the outcome is much brighter than I thought it would be and am relieved for the time being. I wish to thank all of you for all your kind and concerned comments and supporting me during this ordeal. You are the greatest group ever!!
Thanks again! --Bonnie
