I got a flyer for the Bluegrass Miniature Horse Sale in Shelbyville, Ky.

Has anyone sold any horses or bought any horses from this sale??

The flyer indicates it is a Show Ready Horse sale AMHA and/or AMHR Registered Horses.

I have 1/2 my herd listed for sale and haven't really gotten any serious bites. I have tossed up the idea to my hubby. In the past we attended and had a show gelding run thru a miniature auction in AR but we didn't sell him as we weren't going to just give him away.

Any thoughts or ideas????

Went last year and the year before. The horses are really nice! Bought 2 horses there last year. The prices weren't too high last year..good for buyers..bad for sellers. But we are going to try to sell 2 colts there this year.

im hoping to go this year just to socialize

I go every year, and it is very enjoyable, but you are right, the prices have dropped in the past couple of years. I am more of a buyer than seller, so it doesnt bother me, as much as if I were the consigner.

They also have a sale in Shelbyville in the fall each year, someone else puts it on, but it is in October. Lovely facility and the club does a wonderful job , concessions, tack, etc.

my real question is will it be worth me taking a day off work w/out pay, plus paying someone to tend to the rest of my herd Friday evening, Sat am/pm, driving 6 hrs, cost of gas, hotel.... to sell 4 show quality horses???

I have the horses listed on a friend's website sale page, plus one is listed on LB Auction board. I've advertised on the reg Sale Board, but no really bites. I do not have my horses priced over and beyond what horses with their qualities are selling for. They have all but one been shown and placed in almost all classes entered.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Does anyone have a list of the average prices that the horses sold for???
