ON an off chance anybody know of a good reasonable priced one? I need to go to Chicago Feb 8-14. My training is at the Hyatt Regency but the cost to stay there is $650 and dont really want to spend that just to sleep. HOwever, I am not sure if the traffic would be to much of a head ach to deal with if I stay else where? I need to be at the HYatt and ready to go by 8 am each day. Any opinions/suggestions?

Chicago is a place I like oly a little better than my least favorite business destination. The hotel I've stayed at there though is more expensive than the Hyatt. The best news is you only have to be there for six days

Rough city and I'd say pick a hotel you can be happy in until you return to the airport. Like room service you can enjoy, high speed internet and good TV is what I mean... If the Hyatt is also where your meetings will be, I would probably just do it that way.

If the $650 is to stay for your whole trip, that's around $100 a night; I doubt you'd save much trying to stay somewhere else. [We pay $75/night to stay in a room out here in poedunk MT, so that rate in Chicago, sounds pretty darn good.] I think I'd go for the convienence and just stay where your training will be. Hopefully at that rate you'll get a few ammenities, like Wifi and maybe continental breakfast.

I've heard stories about the streets of Chicago. Speaking from personal experience with both Las Vegas and Los Angeles, sometimes it's worth it to stay in the nicer hotels because the cheaper hotels are usually in the more sketchy/dangerous parts of town. With being unfamiliar with the city, I'd highly suggest staying close to your destination (no more then a mile or two). Maybe go online and do a quick search of local hotels close to the Hyatte and read reviews. That way you can get an idea of the area (if others felt safe) and the hotel itself (service, features, cab service, etc).

What are you guys talking about? Chicago is an amazing, beautiful city! Second only to New York

I disliked Chicago too. We stayed at the Palmer House Hilton while there (also a work related thing)...That price doesn't sound too bad, if I were you I would just stay there as others suggested since your meetings are right there. I don't think the few dollars you would save would be worth the hastle of commuting.

There is one 4 miles away that is half the price. I am trying to save money where I can as everything is out of pocket and I won't get paid that week either as I don't get paid time off. And I still have to pay daycare that week if mya is there or not

Jill I thought about that but don't know anybody that is going and kinda chicken to bunk with a stranger

There is probably no one on Earth who works harder to conserve money than me, Ashley, but even I, I think, would opt for staying where the training is held. Those prices don't sound bad for such a big city(heck, back 5-6 yrs. ago, a friend and I went down to Deming NM(Tiny, not much of a town)for a CDE driving clinic, and paid nearly $80 a night for a La Quinta room!)I'd consider, at least...How would you get back and forth(at what cost, how difficult would the commute be?),what kind of 'neighborhood' would the other place be in? (Hard to know when you aren't familiar w/ the city)...etc. Your SAFETY is paramount, a consideration above all others!

I am so old I remember when EVERYTHING was so VERY MUCH less expensive, so I am almost always taken aback by the cost of nearly everything these days! But again, it is your safety that is most important.

Best of luck on your trip and training,

Margo
