I feel the need to share. This is personal, but we horse lovers are so supportive of one another I will attempt to reveal basically what I have been going through. And how the story ended. I am a civil service employee. I have 26 plus years. I have NEVER called upon the union for anything until recently when employer went too far with the dirty bag of tricks. I wrote this whole thing out and decided it was too lengthy and too personal. So here is the condensed version. Employer directed me to go to duty assignment in another state. Bag of tricks has a whole lot of reverse discrimination. I was not even the person or the grade level identified to go. I refused and filed step by step with the union. Ended up getting a medical statement from my PSYCHIATRIST that forced them to remove the directive to make me go. I also told God "you know I will not go even if they hogtie me, or try to put some disciplinary action on me...so please let me keep my cool and act professional while I beat them at their own game." I won. I do believe they took great pleasure in thinking they would force me to leave my home right here at foaling season. Or just plain ole throwing the cowgirl under the bus. Before they did not know that I have post traumatic stress disorder. Heck, aside from hubbie my family does not know. I did not go to the police back when "it" happened. I hate that management forced my hand. The flip side is they did not even see the bite to the butt coming. I have gone from being angry, feeling helpless and stressed, to feeling a bittersweet victory.

Congrats! Glad it worked out for you! It would take strength to go through with this and I am sure it was not easy. Glad you have your union and your voice! People should not be able to force others to disrupt their whole lives on a whim.

Congrats, hope you are in a place that isn't trying to eliminate the unions like here in Ohio.

Perfect example of the good of a union. Where would you have been without one...scary thought that our country is trying to abolish the unions. I'll stop there with that thought. Hope all keeps going well for you.

Of course I do not know exactly what "it" is but I can tell you in my own experience.. secrets kept me a victim once I took the power away from that secret I was able to get my own power back

Thank you all for your positive words. Chin is up and yes it took the kind of strength that zaps you. It's gonna be okay. Sticks and stones and words I can take. But when supervision uses low down dirty tricks it is shameful. Lookin forward to retirement in 4 years and 2 months. And surely only good will come from the doctor appointments. Before I had only talked to licensed counselors (female) who told me I was " a survivor", "stronger than most folks". This doctor of psychiatry that I have started seeing is being tough on me and he told me upfront that he would be. Keep me in your prayers for now though.

Good that you were able to beat them at the game. Seems alot of workplaces FIND ways to try and get rid of older workers by using different ploys. My brother who lives in OHIO has had the place he works at try several times to dump him even going so far as to withholding some wages that was owed him. He finally went to a lawyer and fought back. He has numerous medical conditions but always works hard and as many hours as they need. It is a shame that these companys try to continue to CRAP on the workers that help make their company.
