The third is in between.

I was talking to a man last night that inquired on a colt, he is a paint horse breeder so i thought i would ask him about the blue eyed horse myth.

He said back when the pinto's came to the states, they were "indian" horses and were thought of as ugly ext. As we all know blue eyes go with the overo pinto's, back when the pinto's were thought of as ugly and looked down upon because of their color so from that came the myth about blue eyed horses being spooky and linked to the pinto's when they first came here. He was much better at explaining this lol.

Makes sense to me

I havent noticed it. Most of my horses have blue eyes. I have one that I try to scare away from me at times, but she is unflapable, so I have just gotten used to her walking with her head in my butt!. Shes a little to friendly for my likeing. Wish she would of got a bit of her scaredness from her mother.

Ok, so if anyone would like to give me their black pintos because they have those weirdo blue eyes, please email me!! LOL!!!!

I agree with what jill said about some not seeing well. We have a mare that has blue eyes with pink around her eyelids, and sometimes in the sunlight she gets blinded very easily. One time she ran into a handle of a wagon when it was right in front of her. So, I believe this can lead to them getting spooked, but I don't believe all blue eyed horses are that way, just the ones with pink skin for some odd reason.

Football players frequently put black "paint"( I don't know what you would call it) under their eyes so they can see better, less sun glare. horses with pink sking around their eyes get a lot of sun glare?
