:saludando: Hi was woundering if anyone watches thier mare & baby on thier monitor/camera once the baby's born? Has anyone monitored/studied or watched the mare and baby behavior after the 2nd or 3rd day and so on?

I have my mare and baby in at night and will keep the camera on...... but after day 2 I noticed momma started teaching the little guy some patience and herd behavoir, it's quite commical! Of course baby's very impatient and momma won't put up the rude behavior and makes him behave..... And it's so funny to watch him tear around in the stall... it's fun to see the things you would sometimes miss! lol!

I love to keep them on cam as long as I can, but after they are a few days old if I need the birthing stall, then I have to move them, but I can actually watch 2 stalls at once with my cam so I can still keep an eye on them.

It is fun to watch, I love to lay in my bed and watch the babies, better than some TV shows that's for sure!

I watch my mares 24 hours a day and Don't leave them. I take the mare TV to bed with me. BUT I watch the foals even harder!

Ours is a big foaling pen. The side of the barn is open and the pen goes half inside and half outside. Shelter, sunshine, room to move around in. With just one mare, she gets the whole thing, but we split it in half if we have two mares that need watching. The camera is on 24 hours a day. My colt born on March 21st is on the TV right now.

And I'm out there often sitting on the ground loving on momma and baby.

Every year I put the camera up the begining of March & keep it up to watch the babies. It's funny in the middle of the night when they wake up & will be running & bucking around not having any idea of the time of the day. :aktion033:

We watch ours constantly! I adore watching mom show her the "way" of the herd. We don't watch TV anymore. We just watch our foals!

We had our first foals born here last year. Of course being a new "mom", I couldn't stop watching them!! I kept the stall camera's up for almost 3 months

: Why? Because they always do the funniest stuff when you aren't out there!!! I loved watching them run and buck and try and get their moms up as they took their 7PM nap

: After 3 months, one of the monitors burnt out, so I decided it was time to take the camera's down
