My hubby just got his 10 pointer this past Friday. We process the meat ourselves and I make a really nice Italian sausage for pastas & hubby makes his famous jerky. Our freezer is full and my walls are full!

If he does decide to mount it, he still can even though he cut the head off too short. You can always use the skin from another deer.

My father had gotten a big buck a few years back, but it had the mange or something and it's pelt was horrible. He used the pelt from another buck he had gotten as well and combined the two into one, plus the nice pelt (small horns) had a total white throatlatch that went all the way down the chest, which is highly rare, so he combined them and got the best of both worlds in one mount.

A skull mount is nice too, plus alot cheaper. The price of mounting is expensive. I showed my husband the pic and he is extremely envious!

Since someone started this thread, I thought I would put in a brag about my brother Andy, I have been telling my brother about the big buck here for years, and I knew what time they came around, but he never wanted to listen to me, and he always came to early or to late and never got one, but this yr, I put out trail camera and showed him, and he finally listen and this is what he took with his bow , He was 7 point, should have been 8 point, but broke one tine (had 3 on one side, 4 on other) he dressed out over 200lbs, and his total points were 123 , they go in the state record book at 125 point he just missed out and he said he would listen to me next yr and try for another big buck, here is my brother with his buck, ...JANE

Well since this thread has been started and added too... I have to add that today 11/28/08 my oldest daughter Renee who is 10 shot her first buck today!!! We are extremely proud of her as she put an excellent shot on this one as well as the doe she killed 11/1 on youth day. It isnt a very big buck horn wise it is only a 5 point but it was a huge bodied deer and it was all that myself and my husband could do to lift it onto the back of the 4wheeler to get it off the hill where she shot it. Her first words after we walked up to it was "Daddy can I get this one mounted?" And of course daddy couldnt say no to that so it looks like this one will be joining my husbands buck he killed in bow season at the taxidermist. My husband is more proud of this one going on the wall then the big one he killed back in bow season. The only pictures we got of it was with our cell phones and If i can figure out how to dl them from my phone to the computer I will post them. Thanks for letting me share. And Congratulations to all the hunters who have killed one so far this year!!!

Nice buck!

I have a friend who was hunting night before last; he was up in the tree stand, and a buck came up behind him. Not wanting to make too much noise getting turned around properly he turned part way & fired with his left hand. Only thing is, he didn't have the rifle positioned just right; it was sort of under his arm. When he fired the gun kicked back & the scope hit him right in the middle of the nose. He did get the deer; he came dragging it out of the bush, and his nose was bleeding badly...the other guys wanted to know if he'd had a fight with the deer or what?

He's now sporting a nice big black bruise right in the middle of his nose.
