Does anyone know if they make an "extender strap" or something to put on the girth part of a driving harness. I tried both harnesses on Holly and they fit great on the top but even after punching a hole in the girth strap they are both too tight IMO. She has never had a girth tightned up on her so I wanted to keep it as loose as I could safely do so and just walk her around or groom her while wearing it. I cant afford new harness and everthing else ( havent tried bit/bridle yet ) will fit fine. She is a little chunky and I have cut her food back a very little but would really prefer to just exercise her more.

We are hoping she is preggo ( Marty has said she is and is having Marty visions of a bay w/3 or 4 white feet and a filly to boot !! ) so we will not be actually driving untill next year but this will give her plenty of time for ground driving and other ground work.

Thanks for suggestions

I would suggest ordering a longer girth--that's what I did for the first of my harnesses, and then for the next two I had them custom fit, and the girth was one part that I ordered in a longer size than the standard--Ozark's pony girth works nicely if you want a longer girth for a Mini harness, and they aren't very expensive.

If the girth is separate then I would do what MM suggests, an extra girth is always handy!

If not then I am confidant that any shoe mender, let alone a saddler, could easily make you a strap, for that would be all you would need, to extend the girth a bit for Holly's (hopefully) extending girth!!!

Thanks Minimor and Jane, I just checked and yes Ozark has what I need and will not have to order a complete harness, Thanks so much

WE have a little round (putting it mildly) boy that we drive occasionally. He needs

a little more girth than the others. We use a leather dog collar that we cut off and

punched a few holes in it. Works great and if you use a matching color you can't really

tell its there.
