Even though I didn't vote for him...

I find myself overwhelmed with pride and positive emotion for what this election stands for. While watching Fox news they focused in on a few african americans who had tears running down their faces. I can feel their happiness, pride and sense of accomplishment from what has happened here. It is truly an amazing thing

It is another HUGE step towards equality in America and I am thankful for that

Hubby of course is one who thinks the world is going to end due to Obama's policies but I just keep telling him that maybe Obama will surprise him

I think I was most touched by the closeups of geeky white teens waving flags right next to elderly black women who seemed to be quietly muttering "Halleluia" after every sentence and young white guys next to urban black men, all of them completely ignoring each other's race and background to come together in one vision. I think somehow I wasn't expecting that and it touched me that we have come so far towards the vision Martin Luther King and other civil rights figures had for our country. It, along with the words of our new President-Elect, gave me hope and a reminder about what is great in this country. I am PROUD to be an American tonight and feel my faith has been renewed. I don't actually care if Obama can deliver on his promises for change; what I care about is that we finally have a leader who can inspire his people towards unity. I think the American people are quite capable of fixing our own problems if only we have a dream uniting us.

That said, I am hoping that Obama will learn to cut the "pork" although it hasn't been his style.

Feel I really want the guy to do well -- especially since we cannot change this until 2012 if he does not, and we desperately need changes!!!

Look, neither of them could be worse than BUSH !!

I didn't vote Obama but, I'm not Dem/Rep oriented. I vote for whom I think will do the job. My guy Mark Warner won, as well as Forbes.....sorry McCain.

I am BEYOND tickled pink. I am so very proud of Obama and our country for seeing him as he is and not for seeing a color.

It truely was a Historic day for all of us. To see the younger generation actually get out and vote and be involved is remarkable. It is going to take time to clean the mess up that has been created in Washington but Things have got to change as we a still in a downward spiral and Obama is gonna have to hit the ground running in January.

I don't know about all of you but it has been a long...long time since I have actually seen HOPE in the faces of the American people and I saw it last nite. Hats off to McCain for his moving speech last nite too!

Now instead of nit-picking about everything still maybe we all need to join together like what I saw last night and move forward TOGETHER?

I too am grateful that someday I can say to my grandchildren, "I was there." I may not have voted for Obama, but I am ready to support him. Unfortunately the varied reactions to this milestone show that we are still a country divided. And the passing of Prop 8 in California today and of similar legislation in several other states shows that the nation as a whole is still far from attaining "peace, love, and understanding." (Sorry to sidetrack a little...After last night's progressive national win, I was shocked by the individual state news this morning.)

He gave an awesome speech and I could see why so many voted for him. He DOES know how to inspire, motivate and really make you think things are going to be alright

I hope he is right. I have never been one to look at parties and I'm not doing it now. But I do NOT think Bush created all this mess. That's an entirely different post along with Prop 8
