Instead of opening a new topic I want to use this one to tell what I found out about my horse. We had our appt today for xrays. Dapper Dan has arthritis in both stifle joings and two little bone spurs in one stifle. She did the flexing thing first and checked his back. His back was fine, and he showed no lameness after the flexing. She thought his hoof trim was fine, though a little more rasped off the heel would be good. We discussed joint supplements and Adiquin (which I will call my local vet about on Monday). She likes the Platinum brand supplements; I'll compare mine with it and see if I want to change.
We will do our walks and drives on dirt roads whenever possible now instead of the paved road; this should help the wear on his hooves.
I asked about the flip flop and she said "No, that would be cruel for him".
I really appreciate this post coming up and the discussion.
