We're going to be investing in a foaling alert system and want to know if there is any preference between the Breeder Alert and Equipage systems? Is there any difference in your experiences? Pros and Cons of each system? Your opinions would be appreciated since this is an expensive investment. Thanks so much!!

I only use camera's, so I'm not too much help. Maybe someone else will see this later and offer an opinion.

I feel like Equipage and Breeders Alert are the best two. We have the Equipage system and LOVE it. Great service if you have a problem, too. My close friend Beth Freeland uses the Breeders Alert and loves it as much as I do the Equipage. So I don't know if one is better over the other in general or if it's just a personal preference thing.

I have a Breeder Alert and LOVE it and the folks are SO NICE to deal with. The little screw that holds my antenna on had broken and I didnt know what size it was. They mailed me a new one RIGHT away and also let me know the size so if I ever needed another.

I also use it with a camera.

I have the Equipage and love it, but I also use it with the cameras. Fast friendly service with the Equipage people. A friend of mine uses the foalert, but she said its very expensive to use, because the transmitter has to be sutured just outside of the vulva, to activate the receiver..and her mares always pop it out. Then the vet has to come back out (another trip charge, and vet services) to sew it in again.

I think you would be completely happy with either. I've had a Breeder Alert since 94 or 95. It was the original halter monitor. The Equipage came out some years later. They both work on the same principle. The only real difference is the transmitter the mare wears is smaller and located a little differently on the Equipage than the Breeder Alert. I do think you would be happy with either one.
