look what i found out by the campfire ring...

a whole BUNCH of purple petunias!

a friend of mine is coming out saturday morning to help me mow and weed eat, i'm having a big cookout for my son's girlfriend's birthday saturday evening. so, i put this little frame thing around them so they wouldn't get mowed down with the weed whacker. i'll add some mulch and pretty it up a little.

just like last year, there's even one coming up in a crack between the patio bricks...

i'll have to make sure the little thing doesn't get trampled!

Charlene, You are so luck to have Gary still doing little things around the yard for you. It must be so nice to know that he still has a presence with you.

springtime kisses, what a sweet thought! i count my blessings every day that gary was with me for 11 wonderful years. i wouldn't trade a single second and i absolutely do know how lucky i am to know he watches over me. i feel him everywhere and oh yes, he is quite the romantic.

diana, the horse bench is concrete, it's 3 pieces...head, bench, tail. it weighs more than 3 men and a mule! i found it at the same little mom/pop place i go to for all of my yard ornaments. it's a pet store/garden center/concrete stuff, all in one. this bench also comes as a pig but i thought the horse just fit better out here.

Hey Charlene,

I have that same horse bench and yours is the first one like it I have seen. I found it down in California in a gas station with all the other really ugly Mexican crap. I saw the pig and wandered around and lo and behold, there was the horse in the back. I have had so many comments from my horsey friends and it is now in a place of honor in the yard near the barn as we do our landscaping.

we used to plant purple petunias in pots and barrels on the deck but yes, all of these that are coming up since gary's death have come up in odd places, places where they were never planted before. i have not planted a single one since gary died. maybe he's trying to tell me something!?!

wcr, the horse bench is usually where the little kids go as soon as they arrive. they sit on it for a while and then beg to ride the real ones.
