This is the costume that I'm making for Halloween.

This is the fabric that I found on the clearance shelf for the main part of the dress.

What color should I use for the center piece? I want something dark and I will be making a cloak that matches the center piece.

How cool that you can sew that!!!! I am green with envy!!!

What about blood red velvet for the center??

Please post finished pics !! PLEASE!!! lol!!

Yes! Pics when you're done are a must! As for color, I think I'd go a plum colored purple velvet. (Except I'd use the dark color for the main part of the dress & the lighter color as the center--but that's just me!)

Can't wait to see it when you're done, no matter what color you use!

I would use a rich chocolate brown either velvet or a slightly thinner brushed fabric. It will be beautiful.

I second cinnamon, or perhaps paprika. I must have a thing for spices.

I think the dark in the middle would be more slimming than light surrounded by dark, so I like your idea.

You will definately HAVE to post pictures when it is done.

Thanks everyone. I can't wait to get started. I've had an even number of people say cinnamon or plum. I'll have to head to the store with the fabric that I already have to see what I can find for those colors. I will have to post pictures of the finished product. Thanks again everyone.
