Thanks to good friends of the Crabby Chicken Ranch and Leia, too!

I couldn't have made it into the ring without Kim and her children to keep an eye on my little ones.

Friday, Pyro did very well for himself and of course being the only weanling, he took three firsts, though he did place second and I think third also first in his Amateur Stallion class, and even took I think one Reserve Champ in the Jr. Stallions! I am quite happy with that and the judges were very impressed, gave him a lot of compliments IN SPITE of his red devil impression (it was HOT that day and I was really not enjoying wrestling him).

Pyro's daddy did a good job of impressing the judges, also. I'll let Kim tell about that.

No classes on Saturday, but I enjoyed just being there even though again it was hot and quite dusty.

Sunday was our Jumper class and Mouse and my debut in this class. He has done Hunter and pretty much bombed out at it. I even predicted he would blow the second jump. I was the one who almost missed it, having taken a bad line to it and he jumped it anyway, though I steered him towards it at the last minute and it was a type he hasn't seen before with flowers and greenery!

He had the only clear round of three entries and took three blues! SO proud of him, it was all him, because I was half confused. *LOL*

Then he amazed me by taking every top placing in his gelding classes, on to Senior Grand Champ Gelding!!! Unanymously, too. He was not chosen for a Supreme, though. STILL, I am not complaining. We saw country rose and Equuisize, too, in addition to Leia and Kody (Kody's just amazing, he's such a personality and I think I saw another facet of it this weekend, the "father figure with a playful side", he was SO PATIENT with rotten little Pyro and my sons squirting him with squirt guns and running up and bumping into him, feeding him treats one piece at a time with their fingers, etc.).

I think there may be a few pictures rolling around somewhere, but I don't have them. it was all I could do to have my two little ones there as well as the two horses in that heat.

Thanks for looking!

Liz M.

Congratulations Liz! That Pyro is something else. And Mouse too of course! You have more guts than me attempting the jumper classes. I would probably fall flat on my face.

: My kids want to try it though. Mouse must be really proud of himself too with all those wins. :aktion033:

We just got home from the CWMHC show in Pasco, WA and Incredible did well too. We were quite happy with his results and Stephanie worked hard. The heat was unbearable; I swear it was 100+. Maybe someone else that was there knows how hot is actually got. And the poor horses in the heat...we were pretty concerned for Incredible at one point because he wouldn't drink any water. We were up late last night feeding him green grass, watermelon, soaked hay and even flavored water which, I might add, he loved! :bgrin

Congratulations again on the fantastic results! :aktion033:

Congrats on your wins...I wasn't able to make it out there to watch due to work but I'm curious to know what the turn out was for there since it was the same weekend as Central WA. I wanted to show but the doctor said I needed to take alil break since I started working last week. So of course what the doc says has to go.

I plan to be out there again the end of this month at the AMHA so...but anyhow...

Congrats on your wins!

If you dream it, It will happen!

Actually my dear, I distinctly remember toting two green junior champion or reserve ribbons and an Overall Reserve back to the barn for Mr. Pyro. He kicked butt! You beat a lot of nice horses in every class you took him in.

: This was a very good show for Falcon, Mouse, Pyro, AND Kody. I missed how Fiona did.

Mouse was so funny. He looked just like any other backyard gelding in his stall that morning, nothing too fancy. Then you gave him a bath, applied some gel, and asked him to strike a pose and I was seriously impressed at the transformation! :new_shocked:
default_wub.png
: I don't tend to agree with the halter judges a lot of the time because I prefer a stockier, more solid type of mini than what is currently in vogue but this time they agreed with me as there was no question that Mouse was the best looking thing in that ring and he knew it. :aktion033: The judges couldn't miss it either as blue after blue and champ after unanimous champ attested. Go Mousie!!

He did very well in Jumper too. I was, of course, one of those "not-clean" rounds you mention.
default_rolleyes.gif
: Believe it or not despite the chaos of missed turns, galloping out ahead of me with his ears pinned and knocking over jumps there actually was improvement! I don't think anyone but his biased mommy would have seen it, but I tell you it was there. LOL He was definitely in a mood this morning and not exactly concerned with earning Mama's approval.

Kody seemed to truly enjoy being allowed to nibble on both Pyro and Mouse and I was impressed by his interest in the baby. The good behavior with him later I would have expected, but the last time Kody saw a baby outside of a show ground he pulled the one and only spectacular spook he's ever done. I swear he thought it was a llama or something carnivorous and he was OUTTA there, man!
default_wacko.png
: But he saw Pyro and his eyes got all soft and you could just see him going "Look Mama, it's a mini-me! Can I lick him all over and tug on his skin and nip at his kneecaps and let him climb on me?" What a good boy. Yes, I have pictures, no, I haven't uploaded them yet.

I want to thank the Crabby Chickens and Nootka for putting up with my constant requests to video me in my classes, Liz for the loan of a halter for Jumper, Dorothy Whiteman for the loan of a leadline to go with it, and everyone else who held Kody for me and consequently got slimed, nibbled on, rubbed on, or otherwise abused by said gelding. I was at the show by myself and thanks to my friends there (most of them made on this forum!) I still had a great time and never felt alone or left out. :aktion033:

I'll post my own show report and pictures ASAP.

Leia, I think that improvement is all that matters. Mouse and I've been trying for a while, now, and it was just one of those lucky days where it all worked like it does at home (and better). He seemed much happier in that I wasn't constantly checking him down to my side to keep him at a quiet pace (Hunter), so this must be his niche. Maybe when he's older he might decide Hunter works for him?

Kim's son and her stallion had a beautiful round in Jumper, too, in the Youth class.

I was glad to get to see that.

Tracy, it was good seeing you, too! I'm sorry we didn't get much of a chance to talk!

Kaykay, yes, I have shown weanlings in Amateur quite often. It can go either way. This year, it's been going Pyro's way as he's taken some top placings in the class. I think there were five in his class on Friday and he took a second, third and a first (I think! Luckily AMHR will put the results up sooner or later).

Mouse is a good boy, and I believe if Leia was at more shows, ha ha, I would just feel brave enough to give it a try in driving (Country Pleasure strictly).

The judges were very impressed with Mouse's unusual eyes, and he enjoys being adored. He did get a bit bored after something like five consecutive classes (the model, then open, then amateur and the championships), but who's complaining.
default_smile.png
He looked good and showed for me, and that Jumper class still has me so happy with ourselves!

Liz

Congrats on your show Liz. Pyro is doing so well isn't he; oh and the joys of showing weanlings LOL - I have a yearling filly who still has a weanling mind

We need pictures!!!!

I just returned from a show too.......I need a nap, but after work all those show horses need a good bath to turned out to roll and romp and kick and buck. They all had a really really good show and deserve it.

Okay, okay, I don't mind making you look good in jumper but I could live without being a bad example in driving too! LOL. No, seriously, you need to get him out there driving. Mouse is a good mover and I really want to see him make his debut even if all you do this year is drive him around in the warmup ring. I will certainly help you hitch, drive, and head if you want me to but I don't think you need the help. I was sort of surprised you didn't do it this time but then again I know you had a lot on your plate.

I'm sort of wishing I was doing more shows too as Kody is finally coming along and with the new show cart and all I feel like I'm much more well-presented this year but my schedule is full between CDE's, ADT's, shows, and working opposite weekends. My weekend schedule for June goes Pacific Crown, work, Happ's, work, ADT, work four week days then Evergreen AMHR show, then four days later Beavercreek CDE, then work the next weekend. Ouch! Thankfully we get a small break after that. I just pray Kody stays healthy through all of this- if he starts to cough we are out.

Leia

Congrats many times over to Mouse, Pyro, and of course YOU!!

Are you guys coming to Can-Am? Perhaps you can try ammy CP.......

Kari

Liz you have to!!!!!! (feeling the pressure yet?)

You can probably find someone to loan you a show cart.

Mouse deserves to drive!

Yes it was a busy and HOT weekend. But fun!

I felt the judges were really looking at the horses for every class. It was nice, and I think the best horses won. Annette had some awesome horses! I didn't get to see supreme class but I bet she took at least one home.

Falcon and Hilary are a good pair. I loved watching them. Falcon was in a good mood at this show. He and Hilary came home with about 15 blue ribbons. Two or three ( can't remember) champion under ribbons and two reserve grand champions Pyro snuck in there too! Fiona was not impressed with showing, but still managed to do all right for being a sour looking girl!

But Falcon felt good, and decided to try jumper class. Matthew was so disappointed at the AMHA show for his first hunter class, and there were thirty kids in it, he had no chance to get anything. BUT he and Falcon have been practicing and working together. He and Falcon had a clean round, and had to do a jump off. He was six seconds faster than the other youth in the class. It was AWESOME! He got his first blue ribbons in obsticle and nothing in liberty but had a great run anyway!!!!!

It was fun and we were happy to have such a nice weekend with everyone!

Liz: so glad you stayed and put Mouse in the gelding classes. That had to make your weekend. Such a great group of people all helping and working together this weekend. Great jumping and I missed seeing Pyro's halter classes. I was collapsed in a chair after setting up and handling obstacle classes.

Leia: glad you had a fun weekend but I think we need to put lead in your shoes or feed you better as Kody was one STRONG boy in jumping. He wanted to go over a different jump than you. Next time we will take him on the walk thru too!! But I am envious of you in precision driving, you are a perfectionist.

Kim: You really need to brag up your son. That horse and boy are a team, there is no one who can cut corners and get thru in the times he can. They could probably run in liberty together and give us a show.

Thanks to everyone that showed at Pacific Crown. We had a hot one too but I was lucky to have a neighbor with a fan in the aisle way. Warm up arena for driving was a dream, polite people, and everyone helping each other.

Annette had some beautiful horses and some wonderful wins. Thanks for your support and everything you pitched in and helped with. You should see that girl drive!

Judy Cates got unanimous under 3 judges for supreme on her shetland mare and I am sure we will be seeing more of that girl in the ring.

Flyin'g--Tracy Gutscher had some wins she needs to share also with halter and driving.

Kim, Falcon's head movements are hilarious! He obviously loves the challenge and reward of doing performance and it was great to see Matthew do so well, also. I could see they'd worked together and improved a LOT. It was a great run and I was very happy to see them leave with the blues!

I have no cart, so Mouse will have to wait for his driving debut, not to mention that I have no idea of what to do in the class and Mouse would be disgusted that I embarassed him!
default_smile.png
Incredible and he can pass notes, then, Debra, on how pathetic we are that we don't know what we're doing. Hehe.

Since we're doing better at the jumping thing, and he's got the basics down in driving, I can feel the pull to give it more time, and really aspire to enter some events. I'm a coward, though!

Liz

Aw sounds like you guys had a ton of fun and sure a lot of success, too! I was over in Pasco and while it was hotter than heck's kitchen over there, we sure did have fun! It was well over 100 degrees on a couple of days, and right at 100 or so the other two. Thought I was gonna cook for sure! Debra, Incredible looks, well, INCREDIBLE! He is the most lovely boy!

Flirt did okay over there, she was in raging heat and a little on the distracted side shall we say. She did get one blue.
default_smile.png
And a very nice compliment from one of the judges who said she should be really something when she gets it together. So I was very happy with that. Esprit was an excellent boy, he was sooooo good in his halter classes and stood right up for me. Our highest placing was in Amateur Halter stallions, where we got a 3rd from one judge and a 2nd plus reserve champ Ammy stallion from the other, out of six in the class. I was delighted! He also did really great in liberty this time, trotting up to me when the music stopped. We pulled a 5th from one judge, out of ten competitors. He needs to learn to use the ring more.

I also took my mare Ally to the show. That was sure a lot of fun, she did great! We had a couple of really nice steady classes and a couple of bombs but pretty good for our first time driving in the breed ring. She is a little hot (sometimes a lot) at the CDEs too, but driving in company really was difficult for her at first. The most fun placing with her was in halter obstacle, our first time competing in that class. We got a second under both judges, out of six competitors. She was outstanding in that class! I loved it! She is going to be a FABULOUS all-around horse. I have some photos coming from the show photographer, she is really pretty in the harness, that is for sure.

I will be taking the same three horses to Region 8 in just 1-1/2 weeks...hope to see you all there! :saludando:
