Yes, we had 4 foals, one had hip lock and died.

Blessed with 3 healthy colts. NO fillies

Sold for $1000.00 each and still have 1 colt for sale just born August.

What about you? Did you sell your foals or do you keep them to sell in the future?

We had planned on having two foals this year, but the one mare had a late term abortion.

So, we ended up with one healthy colt that we gelded and he is still for sale, although I haven't tried that hard. I think I've advertised him twice, but being that he is a gelding, I'm not having many lookers. His price is low (lower than my website shows, waiting for professional pics of my other horses to update it), but again, he's a weanling gelding.

We were given a tiny filly out of a friend's mare that we are taking care of, and she'll be for sale once I get her papers. Her R papers are on the way, but I have to get the stallion's former owner's signature for her A papers. She will be priced fairly low too.

I did sell last year's filly out of the mare that aborted this year to a Forum member in FL, but I won't post that price!

We had 0 foals in 2006 (2 were bred - 1 confirmed in foal Oct 2005) - and this next year are hoping for 5. Waiting to see if the last mare took or not. Will find that out in 2 wks.

We had three fillies born this year. I was going to sell one of them, but now I'm really re-thinking that, and perhaps will put up a different one for sale instead. She's tiny and I think will be too small for my program (I prefer at least 32" and up).

I still have a yearling filly for sale, she was supposed to be sold last year but the people decided to go a different direction so I got her back, and never got updated pics of her.

A lot of times I keep my foals for a year or two, and then decide to narrow my focus, and offer a few for sale. I prefer to be able to show all of my horses, eventually, and I can't do that when I have too many, lol!

We had just 2 foals this year, a filly and a colt and were keeping them both!

Unlike a lot of people we breed what we show and with 7 grandkids, plus my adult son and our open horses. It takes a number of horses to stay active and competitive in the ring. This last year we produced 23 foals if I remember right 13 fillies and 10 colts. Of them we are keeping 5 fillies and 8 of the colts till they are yearlings at least to see how they turn out. Some will be used as show prospects and some will be used as brood mares. Of the colts 3 are right now show prospects as stallions and the rest will probally be gelded and either shown or sold as show geldings. The balance of the babies produced this year were sold as pets from here at the farm to individuals that just wanted a mini for a pet. We even have one little guy that has MS that bought a pet filly keeps her in the house. LOL he swears he has her house trained etc. As far as pricing is concerned we sold horses this year ranging from 400.00 for some pets to 10,000.00 for an awesome yearling colt out of our General Patton son WF Patton's See Me Shine. Next year we will probally produce a few less as we are moving some of our mares breeding dates so they will foal at the first of the year instead of the 2nd and 3rd quarter.

I had three foals born here, two fillies and a colt. Keeping the colt at this point, one filly is listed for sale, but may keep her til next year to see how she grows. The other filly belonged to Tammie Cappuccio as part of a lease of her dam, but she sold here locally for $2500.

Sold one other horse this year, a yearling gelding for $750.

We are expecting 3 foals next year, and have a client's mare here to foal out, so will be 4 total.

Well we had 3 foals this year, lost two though, and still unsure what the cause was(both lived for 3 days just fine, and then the next morning they we're gone to Rainbow bridge
default_wub.png
: ) the 1 colt that has lived on is staying here with us, unsure of if he will turn into a gelding, or become a stallion, time will tell :bgrin

So far we have had pretty good luck selling, colts have went from 450-1000 and fillies have went from 900-1200, most haven't been locally though, they have had to be shipped to other states(not many people into the minis around here)

We had one gorgeous filly...just what I asked for and wouldn't part with her!

We were blessed with three healthy foals this year. One black pinto colt, two sorrel pinto fillies. One sorrel pinto filly sold at age two weeks and will leave next month. The black pinto colt is ready to go and I am very close to a sale on him. That leaves me with one sorrel pinto filly to sell, but I would mind keeping her! I also have a tiny palomino filly born 3/06 that I bought, that I am putting on my sale list as, I decided what I really want is a blue eyed black pinto.

we had 4 foals this year, 2 colts, 2 fillies. They haven't been advertised for sale, & won't be--we are keeping them. :bgrin

Well this year I had 3 healthy mini foals, 2 colts and one filly. 2 pintos and one silver dapple. Anyway I sold the 2 colts for $1000 each and am keeping the filly even though I was offered $3500 for her. I have 5 mares due to foal in 2007, 4 are bred to my stallion, Coyote Winds Knockout and one is bred to Hale Farms Hokus Pokus. I already have a filly sold for next year and someone else has reserved a foal as well, they want a pinto, don't care if colt or filly. Both are LFG of course.

We had 3 foals this year a sorrel filly a ? color colt with blue eyes and a blaze who will be my granddaughter's gelding for next year I think and Helen my blind filly. None will be for sale at least at this time.

Two foals, one of each, colt and filly and have not sold yet (though both are for sale).

Liz

I had one foal born here and Kim at Crayonbox foaled out my other filly. The filly sold at Kim's very quickly. The filly I have here I would really like to keep but am offering her for sale to a good home (but wouldn't be dissapointed if she stayed!).

I am looking foward to three foals for next year- hoping for spots!

If I had the money, I would buy your little colt in a heartbeat. He is such a pretty little guy! A big plus for me too is that he is already gelded. Gotta love them geldings.

We had a bad year....

I had always wanted a foal sired by the local 2 time Reserve National Champion. For years I had admired his offspring each time I had the opportunity to visit his owner's farm. I couldn't afford the stud fee all at once, so I paid it out $200 at a time in advance. My Reserve National Champion offspring was born an unregisterable dwarf, and my heart was broken. The stud owner refused to work with me and let me know that this was "my problem" without chance of refund or rebreed.

I have a problem with selling dwarves, so this little guy was a free adoption. Fortunately, CHECKERS was placed in a wonderful home this past weekend! He is on his way to Cindy Huber's *dunpainted here on the forum* place in Wisconsin! So he will bring joy into the lives of Cindy and her son and he will be a companion for Cindy's dwarf filly, Madi.

So $1500 spent got me an unregisterable dwarf which was given away for free.

: And a big lesson learned as to who I'll trust and recommend to others.

Next we had a nice black tovero filly, which was sired by another local stallion, this time a stallion that got 4th at AMHA nationals with Ed Sisk at the lead in his open halter class. The stud fee was 1/3 the price I had paid on the stallion above, and the stud owners are responsible, caring, ethical breeders! You can bet that I will do return business with them and I'll be certain to tell all my friends. I have listed the black tovero filly for sale, but I won't cry if she stays here!

Then we had a filly born with terrible breathing problems which we ultimately had to put down. Very sad!

After that, we had a bay splash overo colt, who is listed for sale, but not sold yet. There have been some interested buyers, but no money yet. I am thinking of lowering his price.

Our last foal was a solid black filly, that sold last week. She won't wean until December but the buyer bought her in a package deal and has sent the deposit. :aktion033:

Wasn't a good year for us either. 2 fillies and 2 colts. First filly born was dead, couldnt revive her. Next filly was a beautiful blue roan petite filly-LOVED her. Turned her and mom out after 3 weeks to go meet the herd and next thing I know she's been kicked in the head and died of a broken neck. First colt was sold in 2 weeks then the seller had to back out, didnt want any money refunded so thats ok-he is a cutie and have another home lined up for him. Now Oliver was born Saturday night and he is a little pickle! Not in a hurry to sell him. He's out of 2 leopards and really want to see what he is going to mature into.

Laura I am so sorry to hear of your problems with a local breeder-thats a shame because I trust or should I say trusted most of the people around here. Praying we all have a better year next year!

We had one mare lose a perlino colt late (280). We had three come up open after being checked in Dec. still in foal.

We had 3 fillies and 1 colt in early spring. These will stay at least until I clip them out as yearlings. We just had a colt born on labor day. He and his dam are consigned to Roberts sale in KY on October 21st. He is a boring color but nothing else much to fault. I have a mare due in December that we will just have to see what comes.

I had an outstanding, colorful foal crop this year. 9 foals - 6 fillies, 3 colts. The last colt was born Labor Day weekend and sadly, he had to be put down due to a cleft palate. Interestingly enough, the colts are sold, but I still have the fillies. I am likely keeping 2 of them, but the others are for sale. ALL loud colored pintos! In addition, 3 mares I sold during the last year in foal all produced fillies for their new owners. It's been a filly year! :aktion033:
