Hi everyone:

If you remember, before I was telling you about being fooled by our new rescue mini, he is four acts like a gelding, extremely sweet, non studdy, was suppose to be a gelding and surprise he is a stallion. After the initial shock and realizing even though he is exremely sweet, he was very (very) underweight and thus not feeling like a stallion.

At times in the past month before realizing he was a stallion, I have had him running with my gelding and my 30 3/4 mini mare in the big turn out pen. When I have seen him together with the Mare he has not acted anymore toward ther than a buddy.

If he did breed with her (95% sure he did not) should there be a concern of the size difference, he is almost 38' she is only 30 3/4 inches?

If she is PG should I have the foal aborted?

Is there a "home" test to see if she is Preggers? How far along does she have to be before using the test?

Any and all help appreciated.

Sherry

If she was pregnant I wouldn't abort the foal. I've seen a 34" maiden mare foal from a shetland pony stallion, and Iv'e also seen a shetland mare foal from a 14 hand large boned mustang. I would never do it but I have seen them foal fine. I would find out if she is or not, for sure.

No home pregnancy kit, but vet should easily be able to detect pregnancy via ultrasound. We've had them done at around 2 weeks to check for twins, and then usually again at 70-90 days to make sure the fetus survived and was attached.
