SNOWING!!! A heavy snowfall right now. It's good to see. Everyone is nervous about the lack of accumulation this close to spring. It's not cold though, only -5 C. It's so quiet. I love it (when I don't have to go anywhere and can stay safely at home!)

Snowing like crazy here now but the temperature is one degree above freezing. Hope we do not have ice tonight.

I’m guessing the snow is a good thing in your area as well, Marsha? Hoping along with you there is no ice forming overnight, it is so treacherous.

Last year, you no doubt remember me whining how much it was snowing, virtually daily, ending with a ridiculous total snow fall for the winter and spring! This year is the opposite, dry, almost no snow on the ground, and mild temperatures. Some local water wells are drying up in a community about 30 miles from us. A worrying situation.

Nearly 90 degrees on Tuesday. A cold front blew in at 50 mph in the evening and today it is 29 with a windchill of 5. So glad Billy has a nice coat, even though he was sweating in it yesterday.

Winter finally hit last weekend. We had more snow in 24 hours than we'd had the whole "winter season" prior. IT's still not as much as our normal accumulation should be by this point, but it's a whole lot better than it was!

Snowing here today, but not really cold enough to stick. The risky part is freezing tonight and having ice. Silly Billy is standing out in it instead of eating hay under his shelter.

Very mild in the 30’s and low 40’s and very dry. Tuesday it went nuts and we dropped from a high of 45 degrees to (-10) by Wednesday morning. Fortunately, it warmed up quickly and today is back to the mid 30’s. The lack of snow is worrisome.

We had a warm day yesterday (50’s) and I took Marty’s blanket off. Went out to feed at night and was going to put his blanket back on but he was such a wet muddy mess! I think he enjoyed himself. Hopefully he is dry enough when I get home that I can brush and blanket again before it drops to the 30’s overnight.

Sure did! He really doesn’t love the frozen ground so has been galloping gleefully through the mud the last few days, bucking, rearing, and rolling nonstop lol.

I woke up to almost -30 C again this morning (-22 F) and it's been snowing regularly all week. Tomorrow temperatures are supposed to start climbing and be above freezing for daytime highs come the weekend. Handy because my new friend and Bemer enthusiast is acquiring a mini mare and she'll arrive at the farm on Friday. The little darling is expected to be in foal as well, due later summer, July-ish.

After teasing us for a few weeks with warmish temperatures, last night dropped down to 32. Bird bath water frozen, but peonies seem okay. Supposed to warm up this week--probably to the other extreme!

After a mild and dry winter, Sunday snow arrived and it is still snowing but slowing down. We have between 12” and 15”, some areas more with the southern end more rain and less snow.

It has been a year of extremes!

Raining all day and through Sunday. Horsekeys are smart enough to stay in the shelter They were mostly dry when I fed this morning.
