Hello Karen ..

Although we've never met in person I know the pain of losing a beloved 4 legged family member .. Someone sent this to me when I needed it most .. I hope you can find some comfort its words too.

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.

There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I know her baby will be ok. When we lost our mare Girly suddenly, she left behind a 2 month old colt and he did fine with our care.

Thank you ALL for your kind words. I'm sitting here with tears streaming for the umpteenth time. My little girl sitting here looking at me like I'm foolish. She has no idea her "pony" is gone. Although we have another sweetheart of a mare, Bopper was the first love for me and then when I became pregnant she was designated as THE one. But I guess God has other plans some times. I just hope and pray her little Rooney makes it ok. He's a feisty strong one, so I hope so. This is my first experience with an orphan. I just thank God he let me have Bopper this long and at least didn't take her right after foaling.

Thanks for all of the thoughts and prayers, they are greatly appreciated. Keep my little fella in your prayers.

Karen

I am so sorry about your dear mare. Thankfully she left behind a little piece of herself for your family. And of course the treasured memories. (((((HUGS)))))

I am so sorry for you. We had to make the decision to put down a weanling filly last week due to an impaction. She was in so much pain, and tho we tried fluids, she was already starting to shut down on us. The vet did everything he could for her but we had to say our good byes. I could not watch her suffer. Sometimes it is the hardest thing to set them free. Know that you did your best.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I know that your foal will be a very special one for you.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your mare Bopper. She left a part of herself behind for you to treasure in Rooney. My prayers to you.

I am also sorry for your loss! Most of us here have experienced that sad part of horse ownership. Bless you & I hope your foal will be fine.

You're SO right, this is the hard part and I'm sos o sorry about it! Please hug that foal for us and know his mama is looking down on him from that rainbow bridge keeping an eye on him.

How absolutely devastating. I am so very very sorry. You have to be strong for this foal, poor sweetie. I am truly at a loss for words.
