The Iowa Miniature Horse Club will be having a four judge AMHR show July 18 & 19 located at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines, Iowa. We promise to show you a great time!

We are offering somethings different than at most local shows. One thing that we are excited to offer are in Open Pleasure Driving and in Open Country Driving. We will have a 30" & under class, over30"-32", and 32"-34" class. They will each have their own stakes class! Those of you with the smaller driving horses now they can compete with horses their own size in their own stake classes! We are offering in Youth Showmanship age 7 & under, age 8-12, and 13-17. Families we are doing this for you, we hope these classes have a good number of exhibitors. Those of you that have the draft hitches we are offering Single Hitch, 2 horse and 4 horse classes. This is a great place to show off those hitches! We are also having Versatility, Lead Line, Costume and a special "Pee Wee" class. Good family fun and a great show for the trainers that want to compete with National level horses!

Judges are: Richard Petty, Les Zadina, Jason Prince and Jim McKeith. Rind Steward is Randy Martin and our show manager is Audrey Resh, ph # 712-624-8996 Information can be found on the Iowa Club website , www.miniatureequine.com/iowa or by emailing [email protected] or calling 515-291-3994

Entries are due soon , so get your showbills and enter, plan to have a great time with us! We are looking forward to seeing you there!

Lavonne- I am working on ours. I did not see liberty on there. Am I missing something, or is it just not offered?

Also I was wondering if the kids under 5 can enter the rated halter class for 12 and under so they have a chance to earn points PLUS enter the non rated Pee Wee 5 and under class?

Thanks

I really want to come but since I will be most likely going alone I just have to decide if it is worth it and also which horses I would take, obviously I dont have much time to decide so we will see. I also would like to know if I am missing the Liberty class because that will decide who I bring a lot because I love liberty and I might be sad if it isnt offered lol!

I'll be there. Filling out entries tonight. Come on Melinda. Bring crazy Sandy and let's have some more fun. Glad the classes are divided. Especially with my 30" gelding. See you all there. Great facilities. dionne

We thought we would try Versatility instead of Liberty and see how it goes. The classes that don't get a good number of entries then we will know next year to probably eliminate them and go with others. We are really excited about this show and looking forward to seeing everyone. Melinda hope you can come even if you bring just a couple horses, we enjoy having you! Dionne, I have mine made out just need to write a check and send! Renee sorry about not having Liberty this year but we hope to see some of you in Versatility! Glad to see the kids!

Entries are starting to arrive I am told!

I am also sad that there is no liberty since this is usually one of the largest classes. (But I do love showing versatility) Since this is a mini-only show wouldn't there be more than enough time in the day to add liberty as well as say get of sire and produce of dam?

edited to add: we'll be there with 5! (or 4 if Cash leaves before then)

It is so hard to add a lot more classes. Our shows have gone as late as 11:00PM. The club has added quite a few new classes to accommodate the different heighths. We will have to adjust for next year depending on the numbers. Maybe take away some and add different ones. It will be a great time. Rolls, coffee, and juice will be served each morning. We will also have cold water available to exhibitors during each show day. Come to a great facility and have some good Iowa fun. See you then. dionne

Totally understand it is hard to balance. It is nice that you are trying to divide out some of the divisions. I would really like to see the 7 and under classes for the youth halter rather than the pee wee. That way it gives the little guys a chance and it is still rated. I have a 3 year old and a 7 year old that have been showing in this.

As far as liberty, I always enjoy it. Sometimes I have horses in it, sometimes I don't. But really enjoy it either way.

We have been attending this show for the past several years and always enjoy ourselves. Keep up the good work!
