Has anyone read her new book for adults, The Casual Vacancy? If so, what was your opinion on it? I'm just curious because I haven't read it yet (not really sure if I want too?).

I did recently hear that she might write more Hogwart's related books (not Harry related). Any thoughts on this?
I bought it the day it came out (Casual Vacancy), on my IPad, and started to read the first few pages and couldn't get into it. I am finishing another great book at the moment - a mystery by Steve Berry "The Columbus Affair". Once I am done I will try and get back to the J.K. Rowling one and hope that I can stick with it.

Danielle, I had read some mixed reviews about it, most not so good. When you try it again, please let me know what you think. I think she is a wonderful children's author even leaning towards more adult themes, but I think 'fantasy' might be her best bet.

Did anyone read her Harry Potter novella The Tales of Beedle the Bard?

If you loved the Harry Potter series I HIGHLY recommend the series by Michael Scott, the first book being The Alchemyst.... He has a wonderful website and you can delve into the fun of this series, it is as good as Harry Potter but for an older group. I understand they will be making movies out of the books in the series. Also on his website is a forum about the series. Enjoy!

I've never heard of that series Danielle, thanks! It has six books in the set? It sounds like a mixture of Harry Potter and Percy Jackson.

I just discovered this forum, didnt even know it was down there since I never scroll past the photo/video gallery! I love to read though, Harry Potter being my absolute favorite. I am also a Snape fan, he is by far my favorite character. I highly recommend reading the books before watching the movies as they left so much out in the movies and in one added and changed a lot of stuff. I do love the movies but felt they could have been done better or split into more to keep the story line. I am also a huge LOTR fan, I have read the books but they are definitely more of a thinker to read, you want to make sure to have the time to devote to them and not let other things distract you or you will miss a lot of information in a very short period of time! The movies are very drawn out but were still very enjoyable and easier to follow than the books. Still require some attention to not miss stuff but not as big of a deal if you get distracted for five seconds. I will have to check out that series you mentioned Danielle, sounds like it would be a very good one. I have a lot of other series I like too but will have to go and read the rules to find out what all is allowed. One isnt exactly dirty but does have some romance type stuff so just dont want to get in trouble LOL! Another is an Arcane series but same as the other, some romance. Now I just need to go check out the rules and see what other topics there are

Basically all I ask, is that any content posted here be of at least a PG-13 rating. Discussing books like 'Fifty Shades of Grey' is allowed, just as long as people don't go into too much detail.

Awesome thanks. I dont think my books are too naughty and I did see some of them mentioned in another topic (LOVE Janet Evanovich books especially the Stephanie Plum ones). I also like Jayne Ann Krentz with her Arcane Society series.

I read the trilogy of 50 shades of grey and for me it they are a lot of hype and get old real quick, if you know what I mean. Poorly written as well. I have one co-worker who loved the books and about 20 of us didn't. My daughter-in-law wanted to read the series so I gladly gave her the set. I should have saved my money and never bothered buying them.

I read the Fifty books for the first time last month. I did like the first two, although some "things" were a little too repetitive and started to get on my nerves. By the third book, I was ready to smack both characters (her for her meekness and always giving in, and him for his control issues). It's just one of those things where when you're finished, you just have to say "I've 'read' better".

I agree, Danielle! It was just very poorly written and I couldn't stand either of the main characters.
