All the Supremes went to the AWESOME, breathtaking, and deserving LIBERTYS MISS KENTUCKY! I heard it was one of the best Julep Cups ever in size and quality... I have been several years in a row but didnt make it to this one... My mare got 1st and 2 3rds... She mainly went for LIZ pics and Carl Mitz. NOW were off to the Eastern Championship show shortly!

A few years back there were 400 + horses ( I think almost 500) ................. I was told there were 250 + horses this year - Can anyone confirm this?................................. We didn't go this year - we played with our grandkids - We were there last weekend for the AMHR/ASPC show & will be there this week end for Breyer fest.

I went up to deliver a horse Friday, and we went back Saturday to look at another horse, that was showing, and I will say, I thought the same thing, less horses than I remember back a few years ago.

None of the barns at the top of the parking lot, looked used to me. I think the lower barns and the barns up at the top of the show arena were full. But not the barns in the parking area. I can remember all of those barns being full in years past.

I will say, I thought the quality was there more than EVER. Not ever do I remember having such a hard time, deciding who I liked overall. Every horse in every class, was well turned out. No backyard pets at this show. (Not that there is anything wrong with that, but all of these horses were there to win. )

Some classes seemed lighter than I would have thought, but I did watch several BIG classes. I know the amateur junior mare class had 16, as I was looking at a horse in that class.

Cathy, you have the correct head count, give or take.

The country classes were really big, the stake had 21!

My horse was a bad, bad, bad boy, earned a date with the vet to lop off some body parts. Enough of him and his crazy sex drive. He was so busy looking at a mare in the ammy level 2 country class he almost went into the wall. Had to pop him to get his attention. Stood in the lineup fussing and nickering at his neighbors, and in one class backed nicely then returned to his spot on his hind legs. Oh, and in the open country 32 - 34 he bucked and cantered.

Outside the ring he saw some big horses being ridden and off we went like a shot on hind legs screaming and leaping! Enough, enough, enough. Really impressed some onlookers!

He sort of redeemed himself in multi color with two seconds and a fourth but I want a good, safe, sane driving horse, so a gelding we will go as soon as the flies are gone. :aktion033: :aktion033: :aktion033:

The average count for Julep Cup is 300+.

Also, someone was spreading a rumor that there will be no Julep Cup next year. Not true, the club is negotiating for dates with the Horse Park as we speak.

Jody - we were told last weekend that this is the last year for the small equine there. This was also the last year for the AMHR/ASPC show held last weekend................. We were told Charlotte is looking for another place to hold both shows next year.......... Unless they changed their minds, came back & gave Charlotte a different answer - does Charlotte know there may still be a chance for next year?

Mike Roseaur called this AM.. Cavalier took two first's in his 28 and under class and one third.. Mike said he was proud of him.. Mike said Cavalier was about 5 lbs overweight and on a little guy like that it shows..( Geez, wish I was just five lbs overweight). Cavalier LOVES shavings. So the poor little guy has to be muzzled, unless he is eating or being watched..

I am proud of the little guy too.. at the Silver Jubliee he won his class with all three judges and took two Reseve's not bad.. Mike did say the horses this year were TOP OF THE LINE.

And by the way guys, I ordered the pics from Liz that you all helped me pick out.. YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME, they came out wonderful, got them in the mail today. THANK YOU AGAIN

Cathy Phoebe announced it over the public address system, as our club president, I would hope she had the facts right.......

It's not like anything else was going on, but they may be kicking us out to prepare for the 2010 hoopla.

Jody, aren't stallions fun to drive :bgrin I have a wonderful little stallion I drove for a couple of years...as long as I could stand it lol. He's 9 now, has been a good stallion and has some nice babies, but I get tempted every now and then to change his life and start driving him again. Loved your description, can definitely relate to it!
