Kelsey's 1yo birthday is Monday, and she has a leg sprain which is not the present she had in mind

She's been limping a few days and went to the vet today. She's got anti-inflamatory medicine and is to stay inside and be walked on a leash. If she's not improved in 5 days, she needs to go back to the vets.

Kelsey is used to being out in our yard (about 1 acre) 95% of the daylight hours. She and our other "big" dog play all day long. On rainy days when Kelsey is inside, she mopes around and moans and if she were a kid, she'd be stomping around proclaiming "I'm bored!".

But, I can see why she has to stay inside and be kept quiet because when she's outside, she runs like a greyhound and isn't in enough pain, apparently, to curtail her active life style.

Poor baby

Oh, the poor baby...atleast you got her into the vet quickly & I bet the anti-inflammatories will help in no time. I can understand the moping, esp when they are used to being outside having a grand ole time, kinda like kids being cooped up.... I hope she feels better real soon!!

Awww poor Kelsey! What a drag that can be for an active little girl like her. I know I have one, believe it or not, she may be easy going, but she's constantly on the move...thinking she has to guard everything and be on the look out. Rest will do her some good, if you can keep her still long enough!

Thanks ladies

Kelsey does seem to feel a little better this morning, but already B-O-R-E-D.

She wants to herd the cats when they venture to her side of the baby gate, and when the shih-tzu's get off the bed, she's up for trying to herd them as well.

In hindsight, I should have kept her confined when she first started limping. But, hopefully, she'll keep improving and can resume her duties of yard digging and rough housing soon!

She's on Previcox K-9, and I got a heads up about Rymidal (sp?) being harmful to some dogs. Previcox is not the same, but from looking in Google, it also has had some serious side effects. She's on it 1x a day for 7 days, and hopefully will not have any of the stomach / digestive issues. The account I read about it said the dog was fine and eating for the 7 days but then crashed on the 8th and had a hole in its stomach! That dog died and the owners never knew any problems were happening until the course of medication was finished.
