Why is Maryland, My Maryland (sung at the Preakness just now) sung to the tune of Oh Christmas Tree LOL? Hmmmm. Which came first?

Which came first... as in, is there really any doubt?

That is easy... O Tannenbaum originated from a German folk song dating back to the early 1800s or even earlier... the tune was later adopted and given new lyrics to become the state song of Maryland...

Matt, I don't know what that arrow and "represent" meant, either, but I don't think you need to jump to the conclusion that the poster was being snarky or mean-spritied!! There's just no need for that.

Im assuming its someone younger, and isnt meant to be snarky or rude. The <-- is an arrow pointing to her name, If you look below their name it shows they are from maryland.

Theyre just saying they are representing maryland. Im from western PA, pretty close to pittsburgh, and if all of my friends went somewhere out of the area in Steelers shirts, we would be "Representing" Pittsburgh.

Maybe like if someone posted something a few months back when we won the superbowl If I would have put...

<--Representing

Just showing that i grew up in/around that area.
