Went to the endocrinologist today to have more done with my thyroid. He is a really nice Dr, at least I liked him much much better than the other Dr that told me my thyroid is enlarged.
Anyway, the Dr said that he is very surprised that I am not having more troubles than what I am with it as I have two VERY large (golf ball sized) nodes. And the thyroid it's self is enlarged and well I should be having troubles swallowing and maybe even breathing. So after the ultrasound, he said that he wouldn't need to do a needle biopsy. He said that I should have surgery to remove my thyroid. At that time they will be checking for cancer as well as about 5% of the people that need to have the thyroid out has thyroid cancer. So I asked him a million questions like "what happens if there is a natural disaster and I can't get the thyroid meds" to "If he had to have his thyroid removed, who would he choose to do the surgery" to which he responded "Oooh that's a good question" and then told me to see the Surgeon that I was told about by the other Dr that I had only seen once for an ear infection. So in that aspect, I guess I have two referals to the same surgeon and that should mean positive things about him.
Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I continue on this really scary journey for me. (I am petrified about seeing DRs, and surgeons are the ultimate "fear factor" for me. I am hoping that I can get it scheduled very soon so it is not to late into spring and I don't chicken out because I have to wait, and am just praying that it isn't cancer so that this will be as simple as possible. And I am praying that I have a super good surgeon and that there are no complications from the surgery as well. (I am such a big chicken and a huge worry wart!!!)
Anyway, just needed some support, and I know that I will find it here. Sigh.
