I want to build a shelter for my 2 mini stallions and soon a mini jack donkey plus a 13.2hh mare.

My oldest stallion stands 28" and he's 17 years old

My 4 year old stallion is 34 1/4"

I'm not sure how tall the mini jack donkey is yet as he's will be here this saturday so will know then.

then I have a 13.2hh QH mare that keeps my older stallion compion as they grew up togather so she does not hurt any of the minis as she in a really calm mare but plan on geting them seperated soon so will have all the stallions will have there own pen soon so would need to make maybe 4 small shelter for them all.

then I have a 37" mare, 32" mare and a 28" yearling filly so one big shelter for them but make the shelter divided in half so they dont get in a fight.

Would love some pics of the shelters would like to make the shelter pretty cheap if not its ok will just have to buy little bit at a time.

Thanks

My husband converted some calf shelters he had previously made into a barn and a shelter for my minis. You can see the barn on my website (link should be in my signature, then just go to the barn/corral page). [summer before last, I built a similar style shelter to the one below, except it is just 8x8' (lost those pics).]

My computer crashed, so I lost a bunch of pictures, but here are a couple of my one stallion shelter; it was buried under a pile of snow, but you can still kind of see it.

Nothing beats a barn in my humble opinion. Having the animals all under one roof is not only going to save you money, its going to save you a bunch of time running too and fro and all over the place. By the time you spend time and a lot of money on little buildings, then furnishing them all with flooring, dirt, sand, mats, etc. and running water and electricity, you could probably have a decent pole barn for the same money or less. I would have at least a 12 X 12 stall for the mare but 10 X 10 stalls sound sufficient for the rest. Happy building!

It's not going to be inclose to stall them in as I got a carport to make into a barn with stalls and runin for them letter on.
