I was just wondering if anyone hear had a netbook and if they liked them. Thinking about one for surfing the web, email, youtube....

Any brands that you like/dislike?

Thanks

Angie

I've had my Acer for 3? years and I absolutely love it.
My husband and I also have the Acer Aspire and love it too...they are not as thin as the ipad, but they are also 1/3 the price. Great little computer for $200. I wouldn't mind getting and ipad, they are cool, but you can only use applications that are designed for it, with the acer you can download any program you want. We got ours from Walmart a couple years ago and I bought them online (however you can go to the store). I got a pink one and got him a blue one.....the pink one was actually only $180, I guess that color wasn't selling well so it was cheaper, gotta love that

Last Christmas I got the HP Netbook (with Intel, Atom and Windows 7 starter). It's actually called the HP Mini 110.

It's small and can go anywhere and battery life is very long - never an issue.

Because we can't get high speed internet around here (unless you have cable, and here there is no cable available) I got the Verizon mobile Broadband which is High Speed connection and It plugs right into the usb port on the netbook and I have high speed anywhere I go ... even in the car or truck.

I sit in the recliner with this thing glued to my lap. LOL

You can also plug this high speed into the usb in your desktop computer and use it there too. It's cheaper than standard high speed anywhere else (for us around here anyway where its limited) and works anywhere.

Purchased at Best Buy and since they do cell phones also, they took care of the Verizon USB mobile broadband (high speed) and everything was up and running and ready to use when we walked out the store.

Its really very cool. Paid just over 300 for the netbook only, not counting the broadband. But I trust HP and have had no issues with this fabulous little machine.

Good luck shopping for your new computer ............ tis the season to get some deals.

I'd love to have the IPad but I agree with the other poster ... it's expensive and for what I paid for the netbook just a year ago this month, it's too soon to consider an upgrade. I do think though like anything else always does, another year and the IPad will be somewhat cheaper as they'll be out with something else by then. LOL

I may consider one next year when they come down in price some.

I also have the Acer Aspire...pink...and while I don't currently use it much, it is nice to take to shows and when I was working I brought it with me there as well.

I have an HP Netbook that I got from Verizon. Love having access anywhere, including driving (I am passenger) down the road. Been able to use it to plot out alternate routes when we hit heavy traffic, check the weather, and entertain myself on long rides. I've had it for 2 years with no problems. It doesn't have a cd/dvd drive, but I don't miss having one, have yet to want to hook it up to an external drive, but if you are thinking about making it your main computer, you will want to take that into consideration.

those of you that are using the verizon broadband...if you have a cell phone with verizon that has internet access, you may be able to use mobile hotspot through your phone, there is nothing to connect via usb or anything, you just need a smartphone that has the application...so many people don't realize they have this...you may be paying for broadband when you can get 3g internet access on your netbook for free as long as your cell phone is in range (say in the same building)

Thanks everyone. I think I am going with an HP mini....I liked that their warranty was stated with the product description. I look forward to playing with it

I know this is an older thread, however, I just bought my first netbook. It's an Acer Apire One, and I really like it! It's running all the programs I need it to, and it fits right into my purse or tote, which was a motivator for me. I was sick of lugging around my "big" laptop and much as I love my tablet, there are some things for which I really do need WINDOWS
