Hello there from Rochester Washington. We are in between Centralia and Tumwater.

We currently have 7 minis. I have had minis 15 years or so. You should go the NWMHC schooling clinic coming up March 18-20th. You do not have to bring a horse but there are many clinics to watch and learn from. Plus it gives you access to ask trainers things you would like to know.

Your mare is very pretty. Would almost guess that she came from the "Just" line of horses. They were bred for many years in Oregon. We had a wonderful mare that was very similar to yours!

Silver Buckskin!!!!!!!!! Hee hee...
Don't laugh too hard- it's a real color and I've got one!

A horse who gets the gene for silver dapple AND the creme gene that makes buckskin or palomino will be a silver buckskin (assuming the right underlying color genetics, of course.)

Your girl appears to be either a silver buckskin or a regular buckskin with some major sunbleaching going on; it's hard to tell from that photo.

Her herd is amazing!

I'll be attending the NWMHC schooling clinic as well, bringing both my boys (and our new RV

). It's always a lot of fun.

Hi there. Do you have a mini yet? If not, LOOK OUT! I only have one but I can see tiny horses dancing through my future. I still love my big girl and will continue to ride, but can see that having these little beauties will fit my lifestyle so well.

My big girl is a sweet girl. She's come a long way since she came to us.... and she'll be with us till her last day. She has gone from being a scared, introverted mare who wanted to hide in the barn all the time to being the horse you can count on to forge the trail, cross the scary bridges and look after the little ones. Sadly, she is aging. I wish she could live forever.

Dolly is AMAZING. I don't have any history on her but whoever had her before us did a great job with her. She is brave, sweet, honest and fun. I am so excited to have her. And she is proving to be a great friend for Adora. We have been walking in the evenings and having a great time together. Hubby and I are excited about this new adventure that Dolly is taking us on.

thanks for the welcome!

Welcome from North Idaho! You'll love this site!!!! Lots of great info!
thank you!

Good for you to do therapy. I have done quite a bit of that. It is time consuming but very rewarding.

I'm reading and can't get enough!

Well, whatever color my darling Dolly is, she is PERFECT in every way. I cannot believe how quickly she has worked her way into our hearts. I've been doing a lot of large horse rescue for the past few years and we've had some difficult horses, sick horses, sad horses... placed in wonderful homes now (on contracts, with frequent visits). But it's taken it's toll on us. Husband was kicked in the face (major facial fractures, eye damage) requiring surgery to correct. I didn't think I would get him close to another new horse but he's SMITTEN with Dolly. She is a little angel. I hope we can get some background on her because she appears to have had a very good foundation of training. No matter what, we love her and are excited to this new endeavor into the horse world.

I've got the show on my calendar!!!!!!!!!!

G'day, welcome from Australia!

I also came from a BIG horse background and I still miss riding. My dear friend has riding horses so I can still get my fix anytime I want.

The thing I noticed right away about minis is how small everything is! Little feet, little halters but HUGE hearts.

My little horses are the greatest pets I have ever had. I have had numerous dogs over the years, but I still believe that the minis are easier to train than dogs. I have my minis trick trained and Bailey is also trained for cart...which I taught him all on my own!

I can tell you love your little one lots, enjoy!

Hello and welcome to the world of one of Gods greatest gifts. The miniature horse.

I agree with Susanne about Dorothy Whiteman being an awesome trainer. I am taking my second horse to her next weekend. I Have total trust in her with my horses.

Your girl will shock you when that winter coat comes off. They really can hide their beauty and she looks like a beauty.

The people on this forum will answer your questions and assist you any way they can. Also you live in a great area to show and compete in the CDE group.

Well, some of us "Easterners" need to get in here and say a great big "WELCOME" to you and Dolly!! We're at opposite ends of the country, but on the very same page when it comes to the Minis! These little ones steal your heart for sure, and you'll have to watch out -- pretty soon your "chip bag" will be over-full!!

Enjoy! She's a pretty girl and can't wait to see her in all her spring glory!

I have wondered a lot about Falabella breed for a long time. Your website is full of very interesting info (and gorgeous horses). Thanks for the welcome for WAY OUT EAST!!! Lol

CDE interests me a lot. I have been doing a little reading. Wow, talk about a whole new world of stuff to learn about. Look out brain, here comes more learnin'! Thank goodness you CAN teach an old dog new tricks!

I'm so anxious for that coat to come off. My husband stayed home today and was joking about getting the clippers out... he's the non-horse guy who has tried and tried with the big ones but is just too much of a beginner to be around anything but the most dog gentle horses. He was badly injured a last November when an OTTB (rescue ) kicked him in the face and shattered his cheek, sinus and eye orbit. He's been entirely hands off since then. Till Dolly.

Welcome to the forum,......

It's so nice to see some new people from WA joining in.......... you will get totally addicted to the minis and this forum....and yes, like others have mentioned, it's hard to own just one mini!

Congrats, your little mare is lovely and it is going to be like unwrapping a present when you clip her!!

Love the big horse too.......lovely color/pattern.

Valerie
