Aw Becky, I'm so sorry!!!

I live every hour of every day worrying about that. It really hurts when you lose one. Give Moonie a hug for me.

Man, Becky! Sorry to hear about your loss. We had one abort yesterday at 8 months along and the neigbors behind one had one abort the day before at about 3-4 months. The one we lost was a colt. He was pretty twisted and folded. The vet had to come to turn it and pull it. What a mess. We can definitly sympathize with you.

Becky, I'm sooo sorry. I hope Moonie is doing well. What a sad way to start Christmas.

so sorry for ALL of you that have lost foals... just heard from a friend yesterday that they lost two this week. we lost one during birthing spring 2005 and another at 10 days old the year before... it is SO HARD. {{{{hugs}}}} to all of you and your mares, and best wishes for blessings the rest of the foaling season!

I'm so sorry for your loss. That's the heartache of this business. I'm glad to hear Moonie is doing okay.

I am so very sorry Becky. I hope Moonie is feeling better. Did you have any clues something was up?

Thanks everybody for your thoughts and concerns. Moonie is doing fine.

Did you have any clues something was up?
No, not at all. That's the hard part about when a mare aborts. No warning. Fortunately, I just happened to be outside feeding when this transpired. The fact that Moonie was only 6 months along, made the fetus easier to deliver, but it did come out backwards and curled up in a ball.

My best guess is that Moonie has a low grade infection and I plan to have her treated for that.

We hope for better luck next year!
