OK- for those who wanted to see my Breyer collection

I didn't want to hog the other thread, so here are pix of my models. This doesn't include the SMs, as they are being cataloged and counted right now, so they aren't out yet. I'll post them when they're done....

Yes, these are all different shelves!! I have one room dedicated to nothing but models.... This was my hobby before I got into Minis. I've been collecting since 1972....

Um, I dunno....

: I'm pretty sure I have close to 1000 Stablemates, and they aren't even in those pictures. The last time I really counted I had 1500 models, but that was many years ago....

Let me get back to you on that....

***edited to add: quick count, just the horses on the shelves, not including the ones still packed or in the curio cabinet, I got roughly 900 or so, give or take....

And no, they don't get dusted often. I try to keep that door closed and the heat/ac off, so they stay relatively clean.***

wowwwwwwww the only collection i have seen that big was lowell boones. I couldnt believe how many he had. He used to trade miniature horses for old breyers lol

Holy cow! That is incredible. My daughter wants to sell her collection much to my dismay...some I bought her are the very first ones produced. You should be very proud of that collection!

At one point I had about 200 traditional sized Breyer horses.

Now I have streamlined down to 60 of my most favorites. LOL

I collect:

Diablo Mustangs

Traditional Fighting Stallions

Grazing Mares and foals

Nursing Mares and foals

Trotting Mares and foals

Adios

Miniatures such as the molds in the recent LTD miniature horse set released in 06

and a few odd others that I just wanted to have....scratching foals, amber/ashley/National Show Horse/ Lady Jewell and Jade....

I won a signed Buckeroo on the LB auction, signed by Lowell Boone. That is one of my favorite models.

I'd love to own a woodgrain Diablo or a white glossy Diablo ....

Yup, I still get several every year. I collect all of the new Stablemates, and the new ones that I think will show well. (I show models, too) Plus I try to get the older ones I still need, like the old woodgrains and glossy models.

Breyer brings out between 20-30 new models/colors every year, plus mid-year releases, specials just for BreyerFest; Christmas and Halloween models, and JC Penney catalog specials. Quite a lot. In the 90s I used to be able to get them ALL, but I can't afford it now.

Now I am "thinking" to take down all the beautiful pierced end plates from Mom and Grandma and replacing them with my Breyer Horses-would be so much more fitting and I know I would love looking at them much more then the plates!!

No, I actually go into the room and say "OK, you gotta go- I need $$$ for a new colt!"

Which I really gotta do, as my new Arenosa colt is coming next week and I need fundage to pay for him.
