In the beginning and of June and the first part of July I went to the Olds and the Armstrong Miniature Horse shows with Spyder and Cinnabar and I had a GREAT time.
It was the first year they had ever put on the Olds show and it was really, really great. Although it was a really long drive for us, it was very much worth it.
This is Shadow who I showed for her owner, mostly in halter. She's a porker because she was only taken off pasture. She didn't have much competition because of how small she is (28") but I always have a good time showing her.
This is my showing Spyder in halter. I had a heck of a time getting him to stand on his hind legs, he kept wanting to point his toe, a really annoying habit of his. Anyway, he did really good considering I had notbeen practicing with him at all because I thought that he was not coming to Olds, but we ended up taking him last minute.
More Spyder in halter.
This is Jessica (who is leasing Cinny this year for a 4-H project) and her costume for the costume class. Cinnabar was extremely patient with us dressing him up even though he had not a speck of dignity left by the end. Cinny is the garden and Jessica is the gardener.
I think they both look real cute here.
Cinny sort of has a resigned look here.
This is one of the AMAZING costumes in the class. This train had music and smoke coming off of it too. There were about ten entries in the class and Hessica and Cinny got second, so for Jessica it was like winning the class. But this train was just amazing.
Jessica in showmanship. She would have done better in this huge class. She nailed the first and second part of her pattern, but she messed up a bit on the inspection. When she stopped in front of the judge, Cinny set up perfectly for her on his own, but Jessica, out of habit started to fix him when there was nothing to fix....oh well!
My and Spyder in Armsrong waiting for a class. We had terrible rain there, but I always enjoy this show.
About the only moment Spyder looked relaxed. He normally loves to be touched and hugged and petted, but when he is all dressed up he HATES to be touched by anyone.
I wish we got more pictures at Amrstrong, but there just wasn't any time. I did drive Spyder in Armstrong and I was pleased with how he did especially with him being only three and this was his first time driving with other horses. I love Spydey and Cinny to death because of everything they do for me.
