I have been having a problem with the little brown bugs that get into your pasta and flour. I never had them before someone told me I probably brought them home in a box of pasta from the grocery. How do you get rid of them? I am putting my flour in air tight containers and all the pasta is in the refrig, I've bug sprayed my pantry and still the little beggers are still running around. I read about sprinkling bay leaves around that didn't help either. Any ideas? Kathy

Ohhh I feel your pain!!! Mine came with a bag of flour and took me quite some time to get rid of. They will get into everything that is flour/pasta based. Boxed meals ( ricearoni, hamburger helper etc) cereal, crackers, doog food , you name it they will invade. Oh , forgot, they got into my nuts and chocolate too!!!!!!

What I did was completely move everything to another cabinet , that has been cleaned and has more than a few bay leaves. Everything that can be put in tuperware, was, everything boxed was opened to make sure they werent in it. If you discard an infected box, put that trash bag outside asap as they will crawl out!!!!

Oy what a pain they were!!! Good luck!!!!!!!

As soon as you buy flour and/or pasta, put it in the FREEZER (can be stored there for up to a month). You can also refrigerate sugars, rice and bread crumbs.

I always refrigerate stuff like that, so never have bugs...

The freezer idea sounds great.

Oh what a great idea to freeze this stuff!! We call them "bowl weevils" here.

Last year I had made a wonderful spagetti sauce and was boiling my spagetti noodles to get ready to butter them up and garlic them...the whole 9 yards. UNTIL I discovered these nasty little bugs....talk about :smileypuke: !! Needless to say I did'nt make spagetti noodles for a long while after that!

We have noticed the darn things flying around in our kitchen for the last week or so. I need to go through and check everything

One summer I was putting the newspapers from the bottom of the birdcage in the big woodstove until I would get a bunch of them to burn, well it took me a while to figure out that was where the moths were coming from that were flying all over the house. Thats when I started freezing my birdseed.

They are weevils and get into rice and grains and also found some in my pancake mix oh major barrff.

I dump my stuff into tupperware and put one saltine cracker in it or a bay leaf and refreidgerate when there's room
