A friend of mine told me about this and I thought I'd share. They're linking a lot of peanut butter to a lot of salmonella since August :new_shocked: I just threw mine out.

Recall

Oh great! I just bought some Peter Pan and it had the numbers 2111 on top and I just ate an english muffin with it on top! :new_shocked:

We had it in our fridge, too.. It just got thrown out...

eddited to say: Thanks for the warning.. Hadn't heard about it..

DON'T throw it away. Take it back to the store for a refund! It is Peter Pan and Great Value brands, and I just saw it on the news this morning.

Was wondering what they were doing at Walmart this weekend. They were pulling it all off the shelves

Great Value is Wal-Mart brand right? At least that is what mine says on it.

It's also got the 2111 on it :new_shocked: It's almost all gone but I will be tossing the rest of it.

Maybe I'll send mine up to my husband's house!

: I have 2 bottles, one for my use and one for Belles Kong, hers if half gone. Knock wood she is fine. Will be bringing it back for an exchange as I just bought both over the weekend.

btw, its for Petter Pan and Great Value with the numbers 2111 on the lid.

Thanks for the information, I just checked "2111" 86th it!

I knew there was a good reason not to buy Peanut Butter besides the nasty taste.

I gave some of the great value peanut butter but i don't see any numbers other then the sell by date. It's almost all gone and no one had dropped dead yet so hopefully I'm safe.

My husband and I saw it on the news this morning. He had salmonella back in October and after insurance paid off it rang to the tune of approx $1000.00. We do have the jar of peanut butter in our cabinet with the product code starting with 2111. We had been blaming the chinese restaurant but could never pin down with the health department where it came from. The dates just did not seem right. My husband will randomly eat peanut butter on toast in the mornings spread very thin, makes me wonder if that is where he got it from? He said he hasn't eaten any that way in a while. ? Oh well, I don't think there is any way to prove it. But it would have been nice not to have those dr bills right at Christmas.

[SIZE=12pt]Oh I had some too!

: Thanks for the info because if it's not on Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, HGTV or DIY, then I don't see it...LOL

Oh, we had one too! :new_shocked: Thank goodness we haven't used it yet though. My mom said she bought it SIX months ago! :new_shocked:

I talked with my sister tonight, she works at a C&S Wholesale Grociers. The department that she's in is working on the recall for all this stuff. She says that if you go onto the Peter Pan site you can get more info then on the CNN news report (I read the CNN news report but no idea on the peterpan site). And its not just one kind, its every kind (smooth, crunchy, with honey, etc). She says the only good thing its that it is just that one code that's effected. And if I remember correctly what she said at dinner, its not just the States that has it. But dont quote me on that one.

Just gives you that warm and fuzzy feeling inside doesnt it?

[SIZE=12pt]A good friend of mine had the 2111 Peter Pan peanut butter too and she and her son have been sick with a "stomach virus" this week. :smileypuke: After she heard about the recall, she went to the doctor and it was confirmed that she has salmanila bacteria in her system. That's scary... We bought our peanut butter at the same small town grocery.

I guess, though, this is when hating peanut butter comes in handy.
