im so mad. just called the vet office. the blood test is there but they wont tell me because my vet isnt there. I told her shes getting worse and i have to have those results. im going to lose it

I dont know Kay but hope to hear some better news and that things improve!!! Hugs to you and Tiny and so sorry to hear this.

My neighbors just lost a filly and almost lost a colt- dont know for sure what it was- both are only a couple of months old. The vet suggested salmonella but would have NO idea how that occurred- they are very careful about their horses. Did they test for anything like that???

OH Kay,

I'm so sorry, I feel your frustration!

HOpe everything turns out ok!

Best wishes and prayers - I'm sending your way!

I'm hoping and praying Kay -- is there any possibility it could be poisoning from some plant? Wilted cherry, red maple, some weed, anything?????? Don't know what else to say, I'm sooooo sorry.

Goodness, I'm so sorry Kay...

Maybe it's just the electrolytes you gave her kicking in so I would let her drink what she needs for now. Hope you get some answers soon.

Kay your in my prayers. Kaolin 35cc every 2 hours to get the toxins out. Was her albumin level low?

thank you guys so much. i just came back in and shes the same. head down to the ground and cold. we keep rubbing her and rubbing her to get her temp up. just gave her some warm electrolytes. the low body temp is what is throwing the vet. he said normally you would expect to see a fever. gut sounds are good. ughhh. just wish the blood test was quicker. hopefully some of these shots will kick in. she doesnt act like a colic at all but she did have surgery 17 months ago
Kay honest that is what happened to my horse they were not sure what type of infectin it was but her temp was low to low we started her in IV fluids our end result wasnt good have him see if he will treat her for a bacterial infection in the stomach before the results are back. We had gut sounds, low temp, lethargic and then the dierrreha came and it came fast it was projectile and I swear I am not kidding when I saw she lost about 75 lbs in a matter of hours and went toxic - she drank and drank and then when she went toxic her head was in the water but not really drinking it was one of the oddest things I have seen a couple other horses got sick but not as bad and we just bombed them with several antibiodics and I was running IV fluids from home. We were thinking the thing hmm I cant remember now from snails but tests showed it wasnt it

She started by seeming a bit off not bad not colicky just off then within 48hours it went from that to tragic quickly

Not trying to scare you at all I hope you know that just trying to give you ideas

I would guess some sort of poisoning too--sounds an awful lot like our mare that we lost to endotoxemia--but I would think that would show in her blood test. You and Tiny will be in my prayers! Please stay positive and keep us informed!

Prayers coming your way, KayKay for your little girl. I am so sorry and hope that OSU will have an answer and cure for her.

Re-read Lisa's post above. That is what happened to two of our fillies last Fall. In spite of 3 different vets, we lost them both. When you said Tiny is drinking so much, my heart dropped. Both our fillies did that. The 2nd filly we managed to keep her going for two weeks before we lost her. Her kidneys and liver were shot. There was no conclusion as to what caused any of it. (yes there were tests & autopsy after death) I don't know what killed my babies.

Kay, I know how much you love Tiny. I'm praying as hard as I can that she pulls through what ever this is!

Hang in there honey! {{{{{hugs}}}}
