We don't show in driving classes, but some friends and I want a reasonably priced harness that actually fits. I have bought a few that were cheap but the leather is hard to handle and the bridle usually doesn't fit correctly. I thought there might be something in old posts but couldn't find anything. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I ordered mine thru Star Lake and I really like it. It's their most basic leather harness and was very affordable. The stitching is really good and the leather is supple and easy to handle. The only problem I had was that it was a little on the big side even though it was for an "A" sie mini, but I have found a leather shop and plan on having them alternate it for me. It's even nice enough to use in the show ring (local shows).

Good Luck

I worked with an Amish shop, Eastside Enterprises in Topeka Indiana to design an inexpensive and good looking Biothane show harness, they do a great job and the harness is easy to maintain and very nice looking. Will make them to your measurements. About $250.00 with all the bells and whistles, $200 for the basic harness.

I heartily recommend Christine at Littlesteppers...

I got a harness from her and have been VERY pleased with it..and so did a friend.

Christine is GREAT to work with as well.

Ozark has a very nice leather harness for around $250.00. If that is still too much money, you might put an ad on the saleboard to see if soeone has one for sale. I see them every now and then. Mary

I just want to second CyndiD's post. I've done business with Christine and she is a very nice person to work with. I know she has all sorts of horse supplies, besides the harnesses.

I get mine from Mini Express. Very nice harness, both show and working and I even use my working one for shows and all. $250 is how much I got for my working one.

I'll have to chime in on Christine of Little Steppers. My harness that I got from her about 2 yrs. ago is not only beautiful enough to use in shows but the leather quality is really nice! I loved it since the first day I got it. It fit Hershee like a glove!

Yes, I too bought one from Littlestepers, (Christine) just last summer, and I love it...absolutely!!

: I am just waiting for my two year old to mature, and I will probably be getting him one after he's trained as well.

Hi Group,

I wanted to bump this back to the top to ask a question about the Little Steppers harnesses for those of you that use them. Are they strictly for show, or will they work for everyday driving around the farm, and for pleasure driving?

Thank you!

The harness that I got from Littlesteppers, (Christine) is very well made, (handmade/Amish) and holds up very well for everyday driving. I like it so much, that I also use it for my show harness.

That is the great thing about good quality leather...you can use it everyday; yet a good cleaning and polishing makes it as good as new. I get compliments on my harness all the time. One of the last shows we were to, I had two people ask where I got the harness, ands they told me they are going to get one too.

I use my Little Steppers harness for show AND for pleasure driving. It's such a NICE qulity leather that's so comfty on and beautiful when you clean and polish it up. I feel so lucky to have mine!!! :bgrin

Thanks group! You were right about Christine! She is amazingly helpful! I e-mailed her, and got a response to all my e-mails right away! I LOVE service like that! Time to balance the old check book to make sure I can fit it in! Wouldn't it be great if we could all win the lottery!
