does seem rather scammy..but the Credit Card thing does throw me off as well! i'd pursue it and just see where it goes and what is really up with this person. hard to tell the way it is right now i guess! did this person not ask you anything about the horses? lol.. they just want to buy one no questions asked? just odd

I thought it was odd too...although they did ask for my website to see my sales horses...so I don't know...it just seems wrong.

Perhaps, you should write her back and ask her what "exactly" she is looking for. Can I ask, how did she contact you if she doesn't have your website address? Ask plenty of questions, I'd be careful with this.

It has scam written all over it to me. You could e-mail them back and see what happens. Just to give this "buyer" the benefit of the doubt, they are supposedly in Nigeria, and they could have just used a computer translator on the whole thing, which always makes whole paragraphs sound messed up. But, the name Nikky Johnson doesn't sound like an African name, does it?

Well...I'm pretty certain it's a scam. I had emailed back giving her my website and telling her about the only horse I have for sale right now...but that I will have 2006 foals available. She then responded very quickly and asked how much for the colt which is very clearly marked on the website...and then asked how much I wanted for Little Kings Buckeroo God :new_shocked: I have George on my website under reference sires as he's the sire to 1 filly and the sire to 2 more I have due this year...and it also lists that he is owned by Lucky Hart Ranch. She also asked what the total would be with shipping. So I told her we only accept payment for the purchase price...that shipping is her responsibility, including payment for shipping...and that all funds would have to clear the bank before any horse leaves my possession....I haven't heard back :bgrin So...I think it's safe to say....SCAM!!!

They are coming up with some GOOD around-the-bush scams these days...remember I told of one just a little bit ago where I received a phone call supposedly from a deaf person, so they would type something in and i'd wait for the translater to read that they typed to me over the phone...had a whole conversation, they asked for photo's and pricing and all kinds of great, thoughtful questions...gave me their e-mail, we e-mailed back and forth a couple times, then they sent me the scam message...."i'll send you a check that will include the fee for my shipping company, they will come and pick up the "item" you don't have to worry about anything. Just take your amount from the check then give the rest to the company...will be through western union....wire it over to Europe...." etc etc yadda yadda, just totally blew me away!!!

This definately sounds like a scam...just let it go, there's plenty of real people around here who would be better to sell your horses to!

I received this same email about 1/2 an hour ago. Looked like a scam to me - put it in my junk mail and deleted it. We have been receiving alot of scamish type emails lately. Everything from this to people in Iran (and other places) needing help (money) to leave or help them set up a business. I junk all of them!

It's another SCAM! I did a server trace on it and it's been send to 22 different countries in the past 3 days!

I think it's the same bunch that were getting into everyones PayPal accounts a while back! Coming from the same server in Nigeria!

I just deleted it also!

Yep! For sure it's a scam. My parents received this same email about a full-size horse they had for sale listed on horsetopia. She reported it to her web server. They told her they were aware of it, so is the federal trade commission but this is so wide-spread it's difficult to track down. Delete and have no contact was their advice.

Sounds weired to me. I do know a breeder in Durand, IL has shipped a few to Africa. Twin Oaks Miniatures is the name. Maybe he could offer some advice.

The only email I would be writing would be one forwarding that email to the police. No doubt it is a scam - why waste your time pursuing it - go directly to the police - and fast!!!!!!!!!!!

It is a scam all the way!. the local news here had a story on all the internet fraud coming mostly from Nigeria> Huge amounts of it and most of it never gets read but some do read and every once in a while some one is taken in by the scam. Once they get your credit card you are in trouble!

Yes it is a scam Unless it was through PalPal and then using the credit card. Of which I have done myself. and others I know have also paid for one Through PayPal using plastic.. But other wise You Can't Take Credit Cards you do not have the Authority. Unless you have a business. That is why it is offered that way through PayPal.
