I think it would be good, and helpful for you 2 post pics of you and your horse in show halter/clothes so others can see how certain halters look on different horses and differently shaped/sized heads and 2 see what colors clothes would look nice with their horses.Just an idea! :bgrin Also tips/tricks of showing such as grooming tips would be good too.Any ideas you want 2 share, especially if they help cut down time/cost. :bgrin lol

I have heard that the clothes and halter should match. I don't match, I wear balck with every one.

Hi,

Here is a couple of photos of me showing our horses. With Chestnuts/Sorrels, I try to wear a royal blue color as it really goes well with them. Our stallion is a silver bay so I wear a teal with them and it goes great. For black and whites, Red looks really well with them too. Some times our halters amtch iwth our clothes, but sometimes they don't. Our silver bay stallion has a blue halter, but if I wear a blue jacket, it doesn't look as good. So I wear the teal one as it looks much better. The chestnut in the below photo has a silver bar noseband with a blue stone in the middle, so she does get to match. Our black and whites are usually wearing a silver noseband, but the red goes well with them. What really matters is finding a halter that completments your horses head, and then a jacket that goes well with them. If they match, then that is great, if not, oh well. As long as the total picture looks good, thats all that really counts.

With this horse, we try to wear a teal color as it look great with the grey. When we drive him, we wear light blue, or white.

(Please excuse the hatler govering up his face in this photo. It was his first show and we didn't want him to get away from us before the class).

Hobby Horse has a really good color coordinating guide. It shows you which colors go best with which color groups. Sometimes you can get away with slightly different colors depending on the color shade of your horse. You should choose the color of our outfit carefully because you want to compliment, not clash with your horse.

I don't have any good pics that have both me and the horse in them, but that Hobby Horse guide is great and you can decide whether gold or silver works going by the color of the horse, what you already have, or what might be represented in your outfit (such as silver studs on a slinky might at least dictate some silver on the halter, etc. etc.)

I don't know that it matters a whole lot if you coordinate to the nines, but a nice, pleasing, overall picture is best and if you are going to the upper levels, it pays to work on those details a little bit.

I think there is a color wheel in state line tack magazine that explains it pretty well about what colors to wear with the color of the horse.

Those are good ideas, and the hobbyhorse and state line tack charts are really good to.
