I just lost the little square metal keeper that goes down by the bit end of my harness bridle.

Any idea where I can get one? It is a Starlake bridle and I have a call in to them, but just in case they don't have replacements I need a backup source. Thanks!!!

I cannot answer your question about the metal keeper, sorry you lost it. Do you have an old belt with something similar that you could remove and use?

This is off topic, just a friendly helpful hint.

I always used black leather harness. My 'emergency kit' at shows held a roll of black electricians tape, a short black shoestring, and black rubber bands (the kind for braiding manes). Black twist ties. Permanent ink magic marker. They all came in handy! Of course a bicycle pump. (!)

A keeper can be fashioned with the tape to appear as a leather keeper. Rubber bands can be put on the show halter in a pinch to keep that poll strap end from sticking out.

I have bought all kinds of hardware from Outfitters Supply in Montana. I looked at their website and they do have metal keepers. In a pinch, you could rob a leather one from another piece of tack, or as suggested, use electrical tape until your replacement arrives.

Thanks guys! I found replacement keepers at Dover Saddlery and ordered some. Hope they fit. It would be my good bridle that I lost it of off and my othe bridle has sewn in keepers.

Electric tape is a good idea, never thought of that.

Madmax, I am using a black elastic on my show halter to hold that pesky strap, I never though about using one on the bridle, lol.

Amysue, thanks for looking that up for me :)

Chandab, we don't have a leather repair person around her but we do have a cobbler, that is a good reminder, I bet he could fix strap goods in a pinch.

I feel better about loosing that piece. I was so annoyed with my fingers!!! (arthritis)

You guys are great!
