Well I thought we should have a strange fear thread seeing as we have a strange food thread now! lol. I know I have strange fears so there's got to be others out there with strange fears. Well they're fears combined with dislike and the ability to make me feel uncomfortable.

I can NOT handle having DRY towels on my DRY skin. It drives me absolutely mad, gives me goose bumps and I usually end up wrigglying around, screaming then running away! haha.

I'm not sure if I have any strange fears, but I have some "big" fears or revulsions.

I cannot hardly look at a beetle type bug. They just are so disgusting to me. I can't begin to touch one. If they are on TV, I have to look away until they are off the screen. They just make me want to scream they are so revolting. Actually, it's more of a shreik than a scream, like starts in my chest. Oh, I cannot stand bugs.

One kind of universal fear I have is of heights. If there's something just on the TV about heights or where a person might fall, I get that big time jello joint feeling. I'm afraid to fall from heights, of course, but if I'm ever up high, I always think "If I wanted to, I could jump" and i"m not suicidal but the thought that I could scares me.

My two big fears are what I think of as "childs" fears.

I'm terrified of bees. I will freeze and shake if I see one. My ex, Mike, and I were looking for fossils once and I had a wasp around me and without thinking I froze and yelled his name. He was quite happy that I yelled for him so automatically to save me.

I'm also terrified of the dark, or rather, what could be IN the dark. Along with this is my fear of basements. I HATE them and will turn on EVERY light that I come across in a basement, just to avoid the dark. I hate going outside after dark.

Yep, those are my horribly childish fears.

Quite unreasonable, but no matter how much I tell myself that bees will leave me alone if I leave them alone or that there's nothing in the darkness, when I hear buzzing or am in a dark place I freeze and cannot move.

Most of my life iI laughed at others, who were scared of "little things". I wasn't scared of anything...spiders, beetles, mice, rats, snakes..."bring 'em on", I'd say... THEn..........I met........an EARWIG.....O-M-G!!

Since that day, I have most HUMBLY appologised to everyone I ever "tisked" to, when they said they were afraid of something "little".

IM not afraid of heights, I used to love to jump off the roof of our barn when I was little.

I'm afraid of drowning

Bridges, I always think they are going to collapse and I'll go into the water

Tight spaces, very claustrophobic

Heights! I always think I'm going to fall off of a bridge or a cliff

Moths.... Ewwwww, they attack and get stuck in my hair. And any thing that flies and stings. I'm perfectly willing to make a fool of myself in order to get away from anything that sounds like a bee or wasp.

My other fears would be dentists and flying. I have to get pretty drugged up to face either, and then I still loose my dignity and cry and make a scene.

Tigeress, my hubby has a similar phobia; he can't stand the feel of cotton balls. I always have to take the cotton out of his medicine bottles for him.

I won’t drive in a city--its never going to happen.

I hate going over a long high bridge over water for fear of going over.

Actually water in general kind of scares me. Gee I only live a couple miles from the ocean and we only had a tidal wave in 1964 that wiped out the town. And I’m only within 20 miles of 4 good sized rivers.

I will get wet up to about my knees but after that I start to breath funny, I am a non swimmer.

You should see me when we go up 199 there’s a spot that is real high and narrow and twisty with solid rock on one side and rushing river on the other, it’s a gorge kind of thing, I don’t know what’s worse for me to drive and panic when a big truck meets me or having my hubby drive and I get to look way down at the river right out my window.

War on U.S. soil. I have nightmare of little bombs being dropped from little parachutes and the bombs have chemicals in them that burn and make your skin peel. I won’t go into anymore detail than that.

Oh i have a few!

SNAKES .....eek!. I shiver at the word, there so scary. I canot even see one on TV without having to lift my feet off the ground or even touch the ground because im scared there going to crawl up my pants leg.

TORNADO'S ...in the summer if we have a bad storm coming i HAVE to pack a bag that has water, food, clothes and other needed things it incase the house blows away.

Bugs dont bother me ...just snakes!

In 4th grade, we were all in the gym sitting on the floor and they were bringing in weird animals. They brought in a HUGE ANICONDA ..i swear i almost pee'd my pants!

I used tobe deathly afraid of flying but seeing as it is the only way to get to Nationals for me.. i got over that one
biggrin.gif

Scared of birds to ..not the pet ones that sit on your finger that you get at the petshop. Nope, the wild ones that get in the garage and about take your head off and neck you to death.

I'm also scared to death of Penguins ..no joke!. There just so weird and freak me out. The biggest bird that gets me though is the GOOSE! I got attacked by one

Me... Hmmm biggest fear...

BEE'S

OMG I HATE BEES!

My friends are luckily quite understanding of that - now. I feel sorry for my friend Erik though, there was a bee by my head, and not only did I scream bloody urder in his ear, I made him go over backwards on a bench, and then I managed to elbow him where is hurts. I feel so bad for that!

I am scared of needles, and I am afraid of losing my friends most of all.

it's funny that you brought that up. a few days before christmas my uncle was out hunting gesse. there was two of them he shot one, then shot the other, he was not paying attention and one of them fell on his head!! he passed out for a bit, and a few days later he found out it broke his jaw. he's not scared of them, but he does not want to go hunting alone again :p

I don't really have much fears any more, i'm slowly getting over them. The dark, the basement, flying, brittny spears :p. the one that still bothers me, is my basement, i'm convinced that my house is haunted, and the basement gives me the creeps. i always close the basment door when i'm in the living room....when i feel creeped out and i'm in the living room seeing as it's open right now and i don't really feel creeped out. it used to be really bad, i would wake up in the morning and my parents were at work, i would run down stairs to close the door as soon as i got up. now i just close it by habbit mostly.

The fear that bothers me the most, is very odd and complex. I am not scared, but more discomferted, and sometimes i get sick by being in cites, and busy shopping malls, and even family gatherings. The family gatherings because eveyone asks me the same thing 400000 times and never stays to hear what i have to say. i don't like to be rushed. I guess when lots of peole are in one place and have to get something done they seem unhuman to me. people don't talk to each other in anything other them busniess tone, and they don't take their time, they don't to smile to each other, or smile at all. i can't go shopping on any of the big shopping days, i feel to rushed, and will get sick right there in the mall, i usally take a day off school when my mom has a day off when i need to go shopping. it's getting to the point i can't even go into wal-mart when it's busy

this brings me to my next "fear"

The amount of adversting in Toronto scared me, it really did. i could not look anywhere with out seeing an ad. they disoriented me, and now i only go back to go to a concernt.

I'm afraid of being alone. Not just by myself for a while, but ALONE. No family, no friends, no dog, no nothing and that goes hand in hand with my fear of silence. I will not go to bed in the quiet. I have to have the tv on or at the very least, the radio. The sound of silence is deafening to me. Now that I type this out, I think I'm one sick individual

Oh yes and my fear of change, can't forget that one.

I also hate change, I'm a horrible person of rountine and habit.

I can't breathe if my hands are dry.

I "cannot" put my head beneath the water as in to swim. Have almost drowned 3 times.

Need noise at nite and small nitelite too.

Interesting thread.

he can't stand the feel of cotton balls. I always have to take the cotton out of his medicine bottles for him.
Oh my gosh!! One of my nephews is the same way. If he touches cotton balls, he gags...weird huh?
