Hoping that Artie is doing well, yes, you have a long road, but with a spirit like hers, I know that it will all work out. Please give us updates - we are all on pins & needles!
Okay LOL - today's update, she is grouchy! I would be too, I'm sure she's in some pain despite medications, she's in a strange place and can't move very well, and she has a heck of an incision. Aside from that, the vets say she is progressing as expected. She was grinding her teeth some this afternoon when I was there, and although we've already had the ulcer conversation I need to doublecheck the vets and be sure she is getting that base covered. I took as a relatively good sign that she felt good enough to be grumpy, as she just looked shocky yesterday. They say she's been eating okay but she had a flake of alfalfa in front of her today and wasn't much interested. I hope that getting her out of the stall some - when they okay it- will help her mental outlook as well as the physical, she's not a stall girl anymore and is not happy at being confined. We do lots of ttouch when I'm there, but all she really wanted today was to be itched where they have the iv needle taped in.
Well, no news is good news as they say - and this is kind of a status quo post LOL. Artie looked better and brighter this afternoon, still not moving around much but her eyes were brighter and she actually showed some real interest in something. I took carrots to her, it's the first thing I've seen her go after since she got hurt. They have a pain patch on her (from the small animal clinic LOL) which means they can limit the amount of bute she gets, a good thing all the way around. One more visit tomorrow, and I'll be at the Spooktacular all weekend so she'll have to make do with my husband
My husband visited her this weekend while I was gone - we missed Sunday due to some other issues with my daughter's new puppy (long story there....) but will get there today, and hope to bring her home by Thursday. The clinic moved her to a new clean stall on Friday, she can now see outside and breathe FRESH AIR. I was on them for a couple of days because they cleaned stalls all around her, yet she - with her nose 6" from the ground - was breathing fumes from a stall that badly needed stripping.
