I know shedding has been a varied topic on here; especially with younger horses under the age of three.
I was working with a couple of my youngsters this past week (clipping heads & bridle paths) and I was very surprised to see that all three of my 2010 babies were shedding. I have never had a two year old shed.
Add in my 2011 filly. She's shedding...a lot. I have to say that this was a HUGE change! A weanling? Shedding? No way.
I just thought that it was a great surprise and I have a feeling that its because of being fed grain. The two year old were started on grain in 2011 and my filly was fed grain before her birth (dam was on Omelene 300 to gain weight) and while she was nursing.
