Oh Kay, I'm so sorry, I must have skipped over your post when I looked at the Forum earlier today. I sure hope Tiny comes thru this ok, it sounds like things are looking up! Try to look at the positive result of this, you have weeded out a BAD VET, and hopefully found yourself one that will work out both "for you", and "with you". I'm looking forward to a time when the minis are more understood by the vet community, so many of them refuse to acknowledge the fact that there are some "mini issues" that don't follow the same set of rules the big boys have. There are actually instances where they could learn a little bit from us. Now THAT's a scary thought! Love to you all, gotta go say a prayer now!

HI KAY I JUST WANTED TO KNOW HOW TINY IS THIS MORNING???? I HOPE WHAT THE VET HAS DONE HAS WORKED......YOUR REALY UP AGAINST IT THIS WEATHER, I HOPE YOUR HUBBYS BETTER ALSO..YOU ALWAYS FEEL THAT EVERYTHING COMES AT ONCE,YOUR HEAD MUST BE PICKLED

Kay, I wish you were closer to us as our vet is exceptional - in fact she has purchased small equipment for her small equine clients - tubes, floats etc as she works on a number of miniatures. Lama equipment works well also.

Thinking good thoughts for Tiny this morning and hope that she is back to normal munching on her hay.

Many prayers for you and Tiny! I hope she is doing better! It is so great that you have a hubby that helps you so much too. He was so good with Tiny. With all of that love floating around at your place she has to get better!

I get so horribly aggravated. My old vet would never buy smaller tubes knowing that I have minis. I offered to pay for the tubes. I suggested I pay for three. 2 for her and one for me to keep. She never would. However I found out from a friend that aquarium tubing will work Cut a long legnth. Say... measure from her flankto her chest, up her neck, the legnth of her head and atleast a foot longer. Cut it that legnth, dull the ends quickly with a burning match so it is not sharp. It will take a little longer to put any oil down it because you need a smaller syringe to fit on the outside end.

I understand they make tubing for goats, that would be the right size. I wish you all the best of luck. Prayers headed your way too.

Kay, prayers to Tiny and you......drive safe to OSU and take care.

Good decision, great place to care for her. Have heard many of a miracle stories come from OSU.

All good thoughts your way, for you and Tiny.

Oh, Kay!!! This surely brings back memories of July 2003 and Khaki's colic surgery! You are in my thoughts. The whole time with Khaki, I was just on auto pilot. Vet was out several times every few hours and all along, we knew it might be surgical. I was just "all business" like I was observing including when we made the call to haul her to the hospital. I was fine until the vet handed me the driving directions and then I strated bawling. Stinging eyes now just remembering. You're so much in my thoughts and keep Khaki in mind. She is coming up on 3 years since her surgery and is a totally normal, active and healthy young mare.

I'm so sorry Kay, your a good person, bad things should not happen to you and your horses. my thoughts will be with you and Tiny all day.

Kay, tiny was on my mind all night last night.

Please keep us updated as to how osu goes.

You'll both me in my thoughts today.

God Bless

Kay, you and Tiny will be in my prayers. I lost 2 horses to colic last year; a yearling colt that was to be my replacement stallion and my broodmare. I did the colic surgery with the colt but by the time I got him to the university he was in bad shape and had 5 major things wrong. He died a 1/2 hour after I got home from a 3 1/2 hour drive.

After that experience I was very gun-shy about colic and took my mare into the vet early and they were truely wonderful in her care but had the same result.
