I know this should be in one of the food recipe forums, but I'm not sure if enough people visit all of them.

A few years ago someone posted a recipe for how they did ribs. From what I remember, I think you boiled them first, then coated them with seasoning of choice and covered them with brown sugar before baking them. Does anyone recall this recipe? I had it printed out but apparently I've lost it. It was the best rib recipe I've ever tried and I'd like to make it again.

I moved a lot of recipes over today to the Food Forum, so you should get some good recipes there!

Are you referring to Country Ribs or BabyBacks? We don't make the Country Ribs, but we love babybacks and we have tried them every way possible...the best way IMO is to season them first (make sure you cut off the membrane), we use the seasoning called Butt Rub, but any pork seasoning is fine. We sear them on the grill, about 15 minutes a side and then cut them to fit in the crockpot (usually 4-5 ribs attached depending on the size of your crock)...in the bottom of the pot we put about 3/4 can of beer and place ribs on top (note: we stand our ribs up on end so one is not soaking in the beer, we have also used a ball of tin foil on the bottom to help stand them up, the key is to get the steam flavor from the beer, not a beer marinade), it's that easy...cook all day on low...8-10 hrs, remove ribs, dump out any juices, lather them with your favorite sauce (we like Famous Daves Devils Spit) and place back in crock for about a half hour. They are the most tender juicy ribs you will ever eat. Note: if you want some sweetness to them (since you mentioned brown sugar), instead of beer use root beer...we use rootbeer for our pulled pork we make in the crockpot and it has a sweetness to it.

Thanks Sonya, the only thing I really remember is that the ribs were boiled, then baked. Not remembering for how long/what degrees is killing me!

I saw that recipe in the recipe forum Sara!! look under: main dishes / pork. Keri posted it.

Thank you Debby. The recipe I remember is almost like that, but not quite. I think it might have been a honey/brown sugar mixture that you add to it before putting in the oven, but I can't remember exactly.
