It's just a really BAD Ad!!

This could have been done for something relevant, done better and really looked good.

For a start, had the ponies been a little smaller, or the men a little larger, it would have been completely obvious that they were walking along on top of the ponies, so it would actually have been funny. But it bears NO relevance to the product advertised and it does not cause you to remember the name.

First rule of advertising:-

If you cannot remember what it is advertising, no matter how pretty it is, no matter how well made it is....It is a BAD Ad!!!

GROWN MEN riding minis?!

:new_shocked:

That is horrible and disgusting...

Arrogance.

Someone emailed it to me the other day, and at the risk of being non pc, I have to say it tickled my funny bone pretty good. I have to assume that it was done humanely in this day and age as closely as those things are monitored, and is so preposterous that I can't imagine anyone "getting ideas" about riding minis from it.

Comeon guys its a cute commercial, how many times do we see mini horses on tv anyways? I really do not think any animals were hurt in the making of this commercial and i really think it would be ok to lighten up and get a chuckle out of it because this commercial is probobly not going to make grown men go out and buy minis to ride in indian attacks...

Well, I'm with those that thought it was a cute commercial. I thought it was a unique portrayal to get the point across that "faster is better". I also don't think it was actually made as it "appears", and would venture in to say that no horses were actually ridden on by those men.

I like the line dancing minis for telus cell phone better...

And the idea was good/cute...

But I really just don't like it all that much.. JMO though.

I'm one that can't view the video on my old 'puter as I said on page one, so I cannot comment on the ad itself, but I do have to make a comment in reply to rabbitsfizz's post about it being a bad ad because it has nothing to do with the service it is advertising.

Here in Manitoba MTS (Manitoba Telephone Service) uses a bison (or two bison in some cases) to advertise its products & services, be it long distance phone service, mobile phone service or high speed internet. High speed internet gets advertised with a bison being escorted by secret service men. One fellow radios to another that "he wants to stampede" and then the bison & the men in black are charging across the prairie. How stupid is it to use a bison to advertise phone and internet services? I think it's kind of dumb, but you know what? It works. I think a lot of people take time to watch the commercials just to see what that bison is doing now. (The bison does have a name by the way. Morty, I think?)

Even if the video is only faking the horses being ridden etc by grown men etc This kind of video can lead to people actually doing this!! When my miniature was stolen 3yrs ago she wasnt fully grown and was only 30", I got a call from a person who thought he saw her being ridden by an 11yr old whose feet had to be lifted to avoid touching the ground!!! I vomitted all day at the thoughts of it and it is seem regularly at fairs and sales here where knackers/travellers/pikeys or whatever you care to call them are selling these poor little things. Also, a fellow breeder here had a mare`s back broken when 2 12yr old boys rode her while skipping school!!! Ignorant people dont need these kind of videos to make them worse!!! I think we should all complain if we can find an address or something???

When the day comes that a tribe of native americans attacks me on miniature horses, I will consider sending a complaint to this French High Speed Internet Access company.

Until that day I will not go around looking for cans of worms to open. Theres alot more serious things going on that we should be utilizing our efforts on.

Doo Doo Doo DOoooo! Attack! :bgrin

Think about it...

As a commercial, it is successful. It got all of you to find out about this company. The more of you who contact them to complain, the more they will show it.

Minimor I did not say it was bad because the subject had nothing to do with the thing being sold, please read my post again.

It is a bad Ad because you cannot remember the name of the product being sold. This is why some really annoying Ads are good- they may be annoying but the "jingle" stays ion your head and you remember the name of the product.

This Ad is just a bad Ad, it is badly made and I do not remember the name of the product.

It could have been well made, there are a number of things, even broadband, that it could advertise but honestly, have you ever considered a Mini as equalling "slowness"???

How about they were all mounted on HUGE snails???

Then it might have made sense!!!!

Okay..gotto reply..why don't people leave comments ?? There is a space right under the video..500 some views and 2 comments..

I think it made perfect sense the way they made it. They are not just saying minis are slow...they are saying why settle for slower, when you can have faster. (full sized horses are faster than minis) At least that was my take on it.

 There are Mary Lou but there aren't that many in America!! Or Canada for that matter. What you have are Native People, what we have are Indians

And besides the camera angle and everything also has to be considered..hey they can make almost ANYTHING Look Real...That is what TV and the movies are all about making something that is either dangerous, impossible, or just plain not believable,,, Believable...Cool...

I think it is great!

If you look closely, the men are shuffling their feet along with the horses. Someone obviously told the actors not to keep their full weight constantly on them.

They don't look like the more fragile Arabian type minis either. Tho horses can handle a weight on them for just a little bit. If they couldn't, they wouldn't be able to breed, now would they?

I've watched it several times and I think it would make a good super bowl break commercial! :bgrin

Daryl
lol, i agree. i took media and i know how they make this stuff.

I did not think it was particularly funny, but it certainly didn't upset me. I think some folks take all of this too seriously. And I am not refering to abuse of animals. I don't think this ad will make anyone run out and buy a mini to ride chasing wagons.

Did the Budweiser ad make you go out and buy a Clydsdale and teach it to throw snowballs??? Lighten up!!!

I am so sorry that there are so many miniature owners with no sense of humor. I had several people send it to me because they thought it was great and that I would enjoy it. Two of them even said that they wouldn't post it on "this" forum because they knew the outcry that would result. I thought that it was very clever and am only sorry that it is a French commercial, and not an American company. I would love to have customers coming to Little America, saying "I saw the adorable minis on that commercial about the cowboys and Indians, and just had to see some in person!"
