weaning

i have weaned my to babys today and my little filly is trying to nurse of her brother is that normal or do you think ive weaned her to early filly is 4 1/2 months and her brother is 5 1/2 months old ....

That's normal. She'll realise that she won't get much out of that "teat" soon enough lol. How long will you be keeping them together?

its 12.18 am here and i can hear her crying out to her mummy i feel real sad

I hate weaning. Levi called to his mom for close to two weeks. But he was fine. I'm sure all will be well

I've weaned as early as 3 months and they all go through the same motions! It will get better before you know it. They actually get over it quicker when they're younger. As long as she's able to eat on her own she'll be fine.

she,s with her brother and he seems to be coping really well but lady soon as she cant see her mum she wont eat and just runs around looking for mum i have them paddocked next to there mums do you think i should move them so thay cant see them.....

didnt think weaning would be so heart breaking....i know iam a sook

Well, then I'm a big sook, as my only filly was left on her mom for close to 8 months I think. She was born in June, and I didn't wean til the next spring; partially because at the time I didn't have a spare pen to separate them and they weren't ready before winter set in. The filly was an only foal, so quite spoiled, of course; she's coming three and still quite spoiled and she knows it.

well i have moved mums up in the back paddocked and put there dad next to them and all is going really well

moving the mums made a huge difference
