I've been working with him starting under saddle, hes a nice horse. As usual he came a 'Quarter Horse' but isn't full Quarter Horse IMO. Too refined and dainty, he is literally HALF the width of Molly or Image. He is 14.3 hands tall and 710 pounds according to the weight tape I have. Could use a few more pounds but also as usual came under weight. 5 years old.

I've never owned a Arabian and haven't been around them a whole lot but have been thinking hes ArabxQH -

Whattayahthink?

A few weeks after we got him, still a little ways to go weight wise...

He is doing very well with walk, jog and trot. Were working on canter soon, he loves to practice his sliding stops & turns on his haunches. I think he'd make a nice barrel horse, he feels like he could really GO.. but also as a TO DIE FOR little jog and drops his head with a nice arch naturally. He has a sweet in your pocket friendly curious personality, nice young horse

We love him!

He looks like a QH to me.......just a working bred one, not a muscled up halter type. In our barn, we have 5 QH's. all reg'd, all different looking. LOL. And he could be appendix reg. too, with some TB blood in him. A cute little hose, looks like he will be worth his weight in gold with a little time under saddle.

He just looks a little too light and a slightly dishy head to me, maybe he'll get bigger with more weight. But lately I've come across a "Quarter Horse" who was actually a gaited Morgan and a "Quarter Horse" who was a short registered TB lol!

He's cute!

He reminds me a lot of my quarter/arab mare. She's 15.1-ish and sounds like how you decribed your guy. She can seriously GO when she wants to, but she is known around our boarding barn as the horse with the "world's slowest trot." So I vote some combination of quarter and arab.

She can be seen here: http://www.freewebs.com/caspersminihorses/mesa.htm

He's sweet! Quarter/Arab???

Is there also a possibility that he could be a Welsh? Or part Welsh? He's reminding me of some I've known.

His body looks like he might have some Morgan in him. His ears are WAY long, like maybe a TB or Standardbred. To me he doesn't look Araby enough.

This is my Paint/Arab cross mare......

I think hes got a lot of morgan. I think MorganxQH mabe? He shurley has some light refined horse blood.

We see a lot of standardbreds and standardbred crosses here in NS and he sure reminds me of some onf those, especially in the 3rd photo. He doesn't look like an arab cross to me.

I have seen a few quarter horses that look just like him. One was my favorite ride when I was 14. He was the fastest horse in the barn. Could def. do that quarter mile at a sprint.

Morgan was the other thing that came to mind to me as well... Plus a lot of Morgans these days have more Arab blood so he could be Morgan/Arab X Quarter.

He looks like alot of the Amish horses I have seen. Most of them are standard bred or standard bred crosses. Good luck with him.

Exactly what came to my mind.

QH is the one breed that ranges from 17H to 14H, to built like a mack truck to fine boned, calm and demure to chomping at the bit, heck on wheels.

That said he could be any mix of breeds, I could see him being part Morgan or maybe Standard bred. I don't see Arabian in him but who knows.

I agree with Minimule and the others. That side picture of him reminds me of the build of a Morgan. This is exactly what I thought when I first saw his picture - morgan cross. I have arabians and I don't think he is an arab/quarter cross. When he is in a gallop does his tail come up high? Usually in a cross with arab that is one thing that always shows up even when the more pronounced dished face is not there, the tail usually gives it away. I do think Morgan. Whatever he is, he is very sweet and looks like he will make a wonderful riding companion

I'm with Lyn, when I saw the profile of his face, standardbred cross is the first thing I thought of. He is very pretty whatever he is, good luck with him.

Yep I think one of the BREDS I've had a Q.H./Arab mare her head was DISHY. Its the neck carriage that leads me to believe it. Head looks Thoro, Quarter or Bred.

Yes! That was the one thing I forgot to mention... His tail is always high
