Well...they are just so darn cute when they are just little puffs of tiny feathers! They are great for getting rid of bug problems and fresh eggs are the best bar none! Oh...and comedy relief!!

My Favorite Geese where the Shetland Island geese and the Pilgrium(spell)..both pairs stayed very gentle.

Only problem with the Shetlands here...is the goosling are very fragile....Expect a pretty heavy loss in goslings.

Best place to get any kind of quality waterfowl is... Holderreads here in Corvallis OR.

Have fun with all your feathered babies!!!

I want some aracunas myself... problem is, I could only have a couple (maybe 5 at most!) here, and McMurray has a 25-min order...
Most local feed stores will allow you to buy 2 or more chick's of what ever breed you want. Just let them know what you want before they order.

Oh that is wonderful JO to hear about the 4H auction!

I think it is so brilliant for kids!

When my brother was 7, my parents bought him 7 day olds for his b'day. He raised them and paid for their grain and all expenses(he kept it all recorded in a book) and then he would walk to the neighbours and sell the eggs. When the hens stopped laying he had enough money to buy a BMX bike!!!!!!!!!!!! He paid for the whole thing by selling his eggs! It was such a wonderful experience and taught him young what good business practices can achieve!

All through school he was businesslike and is now pretty successful!!

I think it is wonderful for kids to learn the responsibilites and the benefits(not just financial)!!!

Yay, baby chicks!! They are so much fun, now we have enough hens (and 3 roosters) so each spring the kids and I gather a "special" clutch and incubate them...Its so much fun, watching them grow... We have ornamental pheasants too, I hope they lay eggs this year...

My favorite geese have got to be Sebastopols....They are very gentle and unique (all their feathers are curled:) Permed geese!) and blue eyes...very cool looking...good luck with your new 50 count brood!!
