when was the first time you owned a mini! like age ..ect... im thinking about it!!!

I owned my first mini when I was 15, right now I'm still 15 but almost 16. I have two minis of my own right now and I also co-own another mare and I have two foals due in 2007. Minis are definately my favorite breed of horse, and they are so much fun!!! I show, train, trim, and raise miniature horses and I'm really happy I got started, they may be little but you can do a whole lot with them, you can pretty much do everything with them that you could do with a full sized horse but ride them, they have loads to offer! Good luck!!!

When I was 14 I trained and showed for a local farm... bought my first at 15... had three by the time I was 16... and had five at 17... at 21 I was live-in groom and trainer for a farm of over 50... doesnt take long!

Last year, when I was 35; I got my first full-size horse over 20 years ago (he's still in my pasture).

The ripe old age of 37 yrs when I got my first, only I couldn't have just one. I got 3 right at the start (really 6 since they were all bred). However I got my first full sized horse when I was 13yrs old.

I had to get a calculator out!

We got our first mini in 1990.....I was 34.......YOU do the math!

Full size horses have been in my life since I was 4 years old. However, I got my first (started with 3) minis 10 years ago, at age 35.

Do I win a prize? I was 58 when I got my first mini and feel they are just perfect for us Baby Boomers. Now, I got my first riding horse when I was 14, and have had "big" horses virtually all the time since. Our first mini was a companion for the big horse (who I almost never ride anymore!).

I got my first miniature horse in 1984, when I was 43 years old, after wanting them since I first heard about them in the late 70's, but not being able to get any truly correct information then(how many of you know that the AMHA was a 'closed' registry for a short while VERY early on in its existence? Turned out that was a bit premature....!) In '84, I got information that there was a breeder close enough to me for me to actually TRAVEL to, and I did!

I got my first 'own' horse, an little mare from the Arapahoe reservation(or so my father said), when I was nine---56 years ago. She cost Daddy $25. I'd been a 'horse nut' since age 2, when my uncle first set me up on a work mule, but it took me until age nine to 'wear down' my non-horsey parents! In the meantime, I'd ridden a Shetland belonging to a 2nd cousin every summer from age 6-9 when visiting that same uncle and aunt, over near Lubbock."Teddy Bear" had a little yellow wooden cart; every once in a great while, when somebody had the time, they'd hook him up and I got to drive him, too--maybe why I again LOVE driving, today!!

Well my dad had big horses (he is from KY and like the TWH and Gaited horses) all throughout my life. They were his thing ...not mine as i never got into ridding and the big horses. Just not my thing, i always say when my big horse friends ask why i have the minis i tell them if i wanted to ride i would have ridding horses. Leeana just needed something different

I got my first Miniature Horse at 15 or 16'ish, Coco who was *my* first horse even though over the years my dad had *his* horses. I'm 18 (19 in june) and plan to continue with the miniatures and shetlands untill i'm no longer able to. Next yr im going to ATI (Ohio State University Agricultural branch) to study Equine Science-productiong-reproduction-management so i'm hoping to make a partial living out of this, we'll see.

I foaled my first miniature when I was 17 in 1963.

I got my first mini on July 4th 2005. Rocky Rocket was the name our 2 y/o son gave him. He is now 3, almost 4. We got our second mini, Monarchs Cherry Bomb AKA Slick, in December 2005. I was 37 years old. So, my son is an early bird to minis and I am a late bloomer to them. :bgrin

I bought my first small pony when I was 16 and some mini/pony crosses at 18. I bought a full miniature horse when I was 21.

11 when my parents bought an Arabian for me

19 when I bought my first mini

i was 35 years old when i got my first horse (a big one) in 1997, not until 2001 did I get minis, but I got a 3-in-1, mom with weanling filly and bred back... first mini mule spring 2002 and first mini donkey fall 2002

and i will NEVER be without them - if i get to the point i can't handle riding the big ones, they may go, but my littles will always be with me. i've already told my kids they can't put me in a nursing home, i have to live with one of them so i can have my minis...
