I know nothing about them, we just saw a little baby over the weekend and he was adorable, the problem is, I know they get bigger and fatter and I'm wondering just how big and what they look like when they are full grown. Anyway.....I'm curious as to what they are like for pets and would like to hear about them.

I was smart enough not to make an impulse buy even though the babies were sooo cute and our one year old was fascinated by them.

I also would like to see pictures, but the ones I have seen look like large sows :new_shocked:

Never seen a mini before full grown, it sure was a big deal about 18 years ago, even in the big cities where getting them, till they got too big....

Were did you find these Sanny? We are looking for some girls.

They are very smart. Smarter then dogs in my opinion. Our old girl would sit, shake and go to bed when told. She always knew where the dogs hide there treats.

She was a house pet before we got her.

They stay decent size if you dont over feed them...........however with your kids I dont think it would not be over fed.

Our's is small compared to many BUT he still weighs in at 90 lbs, he is mature being 4 yrs old. The 7 month old female we took in is as big as him but not quite as heavy YET she will likely be bigger as they do grow for 3-4 years.

this was rosey when she was in the house she now has a big pen outside that she shares with pork chop...the door along the pen is a standard 30 inch door so she is about 32 inches snout to tail and about 18-20 inches tall as I said she isn't done growing and is as big a p-chop :bgrin

We had a male that looked like your white male, same size too. We have one female who is 12 or 13 this year. She is about 90lbs (which is pretty smalle compared to most). When she was younger she had a litter which she tried to kill. We hand raised them, but were only able to raise 2 out of 7. Apparently they were hypoglycemic. Those two ended up only living 4 years and died within 6 months of each other so it was obviuosly something genentic. The male died when he was about 6, the vet thought he had some type of organ failure.

Our female Petunia, was never spayed as she was the only pig after we lost the boys. Last year she started acting off and had a discharge. Turns out 90% of unspayed pot bellied pigs develop uterin tumors. $800 later she had the tumor removed and is spayed. The vet said they live into their 20s so it is a long term commitment. If you get a female make sure youget her spayed. Ours lives out in the barn, not in the house.

I had mine for about 12 years before he died of a kidney problem.

I really don't know how much he wieghted but he got pretty big, well over 90#s I'm sure.

He was a housepet for the first year but then her got to be in trouble all the time ripping things up.

I would say to ask yourself if it would be ok if he/she ended up living outside like a regular pig?

Oh and don't forget that they may need hoof care to and if he/she does not want to be messed with--well it can be a job, or you may have to have a vet do it.

I used to take mine out for walks and he loved to be brushed but he got to be pretty cranky.

Gotta go take daughter to doc now but I will look for a picture later.

well these are not mine but a neighbor has a pair and they had little ones... so cute!!!!

Years ago when the pot bellied pig were just getting popular we delivered a pony to a farm that riased them. The adult pigs were not much bigger then a corgi. They had about 20 of them in the basement and a few living in the house with them.

There was no order at all. These pigs were SMALL even the ones with babies.
